If your partner would become disabled, would you still date them?

Well, this is a hard question, because it depends on the type of relationship (if it's serious or just having fun together). If it's all about the sex, the answer is obvious, though you can learn to live happily together, if you're willing to. I personally don't know... I need a lot of care and I would like someone independent, plus all the stress would make it hard. Plus all the activities. Plus sex. Plus I'm not at all a committed person, I would probably date max 2 months, but if it's the love of my life I admit I would love them forever and even after. The guilt is killing me from inside out, but my answer is a no. So yeah, would you date your partner (or your future partner) if something would happen and they became disabled (physical, mental, or anything else)?

I'm married to my partner and the words are pretty damn clear, "in sickness and in health, etc".
Only a real loser would cut and run on their "partner" if something happened to them.

Finding a connection with someone so rare, let alone a member of the opposite sex. If you can find that person wouldn't be stupid to pass that up if they just happened to end up in a wheel chair. There are extremes, and mental disabilities are more exceptional so I guess that comes down to your commitment.

It's apparently very common for people in relationships to split up after someone they're dating becomes disabled, even after 10 or more years together. I think it would depend on the type of disability and how it would affect the couple's life. E.g. certain brain damage (in the frontal cortex) can drastically change people's personality. Also, people who are disabled can still have sex.

    Physical - of course.
Mental - depends. If it's mild then yes, but if she lacks conciousness and is a total vegetable then I would take care of her right to the end but there wouldn't be a point in dating. I wouldn't start dating anyone else though.

I wouldnt get involved with someone with a disability, no.
But wouldn't leave my partner ONLY because of it, it all depends on how well he cope with it.

If it's only about the sex, then it's not a real relationship.

Well I'd think the disability is much more a burden to the disabled than to the caretaker. I'd do anything I could to ease that pain for the person I love.
    Physical or mental.

Paraplegics don't say no, well they do but they can't do anything about you doing it anyway

If married to them yes, no second thoughts. But otherwise, not my issue to deal with!

My gf's in a wheelchair and I don't give a shit... If her personality had changed one bit, tho... I would be really sad. But instead, it became even better! c:
