I'd probably explore my town to see what once was, but get lost since some streets, stores, and houses on my normal route werent around back then. A bit of a waste but a realistic answer.
What about you guys? Where would you go? What would you do?
I'd warn my younger self to look after my teeth better, and not to start smoking. Cliche, I know, but it's honestly the first thing I thought of.
I would love to see how people lived back then.

1990 Bulgaria... Oh, boy... I can make some very serious cash doing semi-legitimate stuff. Mainly insurance stuff, bit of racketeering, selling tobacco and alcohol without excise stamps, loansharking, car shops that resell stolen cars from Western Europe. Naturally regularly bribing the police and the tax agency. This is how today's Bulgarian "businessmen" got rich. If you didn't do that, others did it to you.
Then I can invest in companies that are gonna get big. Amazon, Google, Apple, Tesla, Facebook, Youtube, Bitcoin. As I do that, I'll turn my businesses from semi-legitimate to fully-legitimate and opt out of the illegal stuff. I'd definitely invest in solar panels too, cementing my company group as the prime distributor and licensed expert in solar technology in Bulgaria. Quite a bit of money there... EU will probably give me funding too... Good eco-startups get lots of cash, regardless of owner financial status. I'll even do some good for the citizens of Bulgaria and fund school renovations, buy medical equipment for hospitals, etc...
Fast forward to present day and I won't be here typing this... I'll be on a Sanlorenzo SL118 yacht, feet on the dashboard, glass of Chivas Regal 21 in my hand, girlfriend by my side, doing what all rich bosses do - delegate and live a life of pleasure!
Must be a nice alternate reality...
Hm.... 1990.... in Russia.... I think I have a few ideas of what I could do...
I'd love to see what shit was like before social media corrupted everyone. No cellphones, just those primitive phone booths on every street corner. I'd like to see what the town I live in now looked like back then. Probably dirt roads and farm land. A lot of it still is.
Pretend I wrote successful songs/movies, invest in stocks of new tech companies, bet on sports events, buy real estate.
I'm 50 years old so thirty years ago would be like hitting the restart button for me. Going back thirty years for me knowing what I know now would literally be like a second chance, but it would probably mess up the space time continuum that they always talk about in movies, because my present reality would split in two. All the people, places and things I did would exist in the old reality as they do, but in the reality where I went back all the people, places and things with which I've interacted in the past thirty years would exist completely devoid of whatever influence, or memories of me.
The Butterfly Effect comes to mind as does the Mandela Effect. Now I find myself thinking of Rick and Morty, or Family Guy.
Same thing, probably. Explore, see what life back then was like (I was only born 5 years later, but it would still be interesting to view that as an adult).
I would study my ass off in my college major so I could get my degree, work hard, and save money so I could invest in stuff I now know would make me rich!
