Let's say that a planet within our galaxy becomes habitable for humans and goverments worldwide are selecting many as the Pioneers of the Milky Way galaxy to live on said new planet. Would you choose to go? If yes, why and if no, why not?

They are going to send 4 people to live on mars every other year for purely research purposes. They will NEVER be allowed to return to earth. They have to pass an extensive psych eval to go, because most people would go crazy and kill themselves under these conditions.
This has already happening. However it depends which governments went up to the moon. There is a few groups I really would not want to live under.
Only if this world is facing it's near demise. Or if the other planet has a bunch of women waiting for me to help populate it, then hellz yeah
I'd have no desire to live on another planet, let alone this one, but I'll drive the starship taking folks back and forth. Forever!

If I'm going to live amongst the same scum I live amongst now, it wouldn't be worth it.
You'd have to wait for the planet to become stabilized before you can make any sort of rational decision.
I think that would be very interesting I have always wanted to be that Like Star trek or Lidt in Space but I would like to Have pretty Girls With.me!

If I can, sure. Although I do have the obvious stipulations that it can't take decades to get there, survival chances can't be TOO horrible, and there have to be at least a moderately sizable population going as well.
As for why, I'm not entirely sure. I think I just want that feeling of being on the forefront of something, exploring the unknown.

I'd go depending on the length of time it takes me to get there and also the number of people going to the planet. Also, has the planet been inhabited for a while? If so, probably not.
I did. Because there are other creatures with bananas for faces already there and I thought you'd like to be among your own kind.

At least now I won't have to resort to drawing faces on bananas whenever I come across them at stores, just so that there are others like me! They banned me from Tesco because of it.:/
The last time I was drunk, I drew faces on every piece of fruit in my house :/
Haha! To be honest, this sounds like something I would do sober.:P My friend once had a bunch of apples in her bag, and they were all different sizes, so I drew faces on them to make a little apple family. And then they banned me from ASDA! Although, that's a different story.:P
