I feel it depends on the day for me. Most days I'm my normal interact-y self, and so sure I would definitely chat a stranger up. Other days I like to be engrossed in my personal bubble.

Why not... Either I will have a new friend, or someone who I will annoy with Top Gear stories and car talk XD

I actually misinterpreted the title and thought...
If I'm all alone on an empty train, I'd go up front and ask if I could have a go at driving it...

Driving a train is surprisingly easy XD
    Stopping a train takes practice!

I usually plan ahead and have a book with me. I don't mind talking to people, but I don't really get bored on trains. I like people watching and staring out windows.

That would depend on the length of the ride and how much sleep I had the night before. It would also depend on the other person.

I like to ask random people questions. I can be a bit too out going though sometimes and I feel like I frighten them. So most of the time I restrain myself because I think I am quite afraid of rejection. Consciously I don't feel afraid, but I suspect it's the underlying cause. P.S. Does anyone ever type these comments and wonder if anyone will even read them?

One night I was waiting for the bus on campus and a guy came in and sat next to me. It was pouring outside and the bus was running late, we talked for two hours until the bus finally arrived. We never exchanged numbers but it was probably the best conversation I've had with someone in awhile.

If they seemed approachable, I would say hi.

Nope. I'm socially awkward so the convo will wind up dying because I'm so boring.

If they initiate conversation first. I'm terrible at holding conversations with anyone and just end up looking like a shy fool. I just feel I have nothing interesting or worthy of saying.
