If you were born and raised in an old fashioned family, would you..

Lets say, your entire life you were raised in a very old fashioned family who shoved their beliefs down your throat. Would you allow your parents to pick the man or woman you'd spent your entire life with? The reason they want to is because they believe they know what's best for you. They think you couldn't possibly pick the right partner, would you allow them?

I think that if I was raised to believe that my parents should be the one to decide about my partner then I would not even question their decision. I would view it as normal.

When I was working in Mauritius some years ago an hindu girl told me that her marriage was arranged and that in the beginning it was difficult because she did not know the person well etc.. But that eventually things get better and now she's happy with her marriage.

    • That's very true, I think. Even when a person views some of their parents' values as illogical, they will still have many values which are the same without even realizing it. Children start mirroring their parents from birth so it's only natural for them to share values.

Fuck no! I was control all of my childhood and quite frankly, I don't want it to carry on into my adulthood. My love life is and should be of limits to the majority of my family. I don't want them knowing the extent of my sexuality and they certainly don't deserve to meet any mate of mine.

Hell no. Even if I was raised completely different, my soul will always stay the same, and I'm the type of person who would not agree to be set up with someone. Who I choose to either spend my time, or not spend it is up to me. I would probably trade in half of my family for some sort of old fashioned people though, because most everyone on my dad's side is pretty aweful as far as human beings go.

I wouldnLt allow that to happen. I believe that anyone knows exactly what's best 4 him or her. What if they choose someone you see ugly and don't even love or old worst enemy? I'd rather keep my lovelife private instead of having a forced love marriage

If I were raised in such a family I'd tell them to fuck off with such a retarded worldview. I have a brain.
