If you have a friend that is a criminal

If you have a friend that is a criminal would you continue to hang out with him? He was arrested on felony charges for drug traficking and possesion of marijuana. He also does other drugs such as Extasy. I do not do drugs and am torn on what to do.

My best friend does drugs, owes so much money in fines, gets arrested AT LEAST once a year, has sex with a lot of hoodlums, she lies, can never be trusted....and she is sitting right next too me. so yes, you can be friends.

it depends on if he/she is currently committing crimes or at least has some kind of plan to redirect into something more positive.

You WILL end up arrested if you are hanging around this person. The cops don't know you're innocent and they don't care. Ever heard of the phrase "guilty by association"? Do you know how many people are in prison for just "being there"?? Everything from stolen property to drugs to capital murder, all you have to do is be in the vicinity of the crime and you can be and WILL be charged with it.

Since he JUST got arrested, the cops are looking at him extra hard right now, I guarantee it. He's probably selling drugs to confidential informants as we speak and it's only a matter of time till he's arrested again.

No matter how good of a friend he is, is he worth going to prison for and screwing up your entire life over? No.

Honestly, If he is a good friend, you don't sense him to be a bad person, then be his friend :D Just don't get caught up in what he's doing because that could end badly for you. Don't judge someone for what he does because noone is perfect. Almost everyone i know has went to jail before, even my grandfather had his time as a drug dealer when he was young (He never got caught though and when he got married with my grandma, went back to school, finished college, and now has his own buisness.) I can name all the people i know right now that deal mary jane, but they are all good people and do it so their families won't grow up poor and miserable. Everyone likes money, some people just find illegal ways to get it :D

If you are clean, he can do no good for you. Stay away from this influence. He could get you into trouble.

I once had a female friend who was originally from Watts and told me she had gang affiliations. Mostly we just would hang out and smoke pot together.

Probably not if he killed someone or something, but if he just got arrested for weed, that's really not a big deal.

It's nice to get to know people from all sorts of backgrounds and lifestyles, I admit what he's doing is illegal. But everyone can get hooked into these things real easy. I wouldn't judge him too much. (but maybe a little)

As long as what he does doesn't start to push into my life and start to make things hard for me.

id say, keep him as an acquaintance and at arm's length.

As long as he doesn't get you caught up in the crime and risk you getting a record, why not?

If he comes over and plays Twister, that's cool. Just stay away from dangerous situations, like raves. My ex-roommate was the same way, and we practiced "safe settings" ;)

I wouldn't judge him for crimes, I'd judge him for his own personal character. You decide, don't let any other authority tell you how to feel about a person.

It depends on the person, you really should already know if you're friends...

There's nothing wrong with being friends with a "criminal"...but there is somthing wrong with being friends with a bad person....

Believe me when I say there's a difference, a lot of "respectable" people I've known through my life are actually really bad human beings and have done far worse things in their lives, even if they never happened to break the law, etc... (Just for the record I'm not a criminal though, lol)

Well if he is a friend you can try to give his life better direction without judging his lifestyle...at the same time know you might get caught up with him if you dont use good judgement when he has "business" to handle.
