If you die in your sleep....

If you die in your sleep do you think you realize it? Do you think you "wake up" enough to at least cosciously think *¡oh shit I'm dying!*?

I think it would be better if you didn't realize when you are about to die. I kinda want to die while having a good dream.

I think it varies, it depends on what you die of.

I think it's pretty likely that you wake up right before death, because death is usually quite painful. Even if it's a heart attack or you stop breathing, that pain will fill just enough to alert your body that it's failing. But that doesn't mean death is always scary. Sometimes you live a full life, you did good things, etc. and that pain is a welcoming sign of another journey.

Can I just say that you're a really good artist. I mean that eye you drew on your profile is awesome. Also I feel the same about not meeting God's expectations, although I doubt that reason you won't go to Heaven because of it. If a person preaches love and compassion and tries to not be a hypocrite then I doubt a God would deny that person "paradise."

Well ty. =) It took a while to draw. lol.
As for God, as with many religions, my view of God is complicated, and I would have to write a book to explain it. Heh.. Though compassion, I feel, is the only way to God- however one chooses to believe in God.
I notice you're a very understanding person, yourself, actually. You're always kind and you never judge.

Thanks but that doesn't mean that I'm not a bad person or that I can't be. That's actually one of things that I love about this website, I don't want to sound conceited, but I like being viewed as a nice person. I'm not saying that I'm not, it's just that I can be a bit of a dick sometimes.

But anyways back to you, I believe that if God was real then he'd just appreciate the good that you do whenever you can. I've seen the advice that you give to people on here, you're very helpful and honest. I think God himself, assuming he exists, is a flawed being personally, but that's probably why he loves us, cause perhaps he understands that we can screw up sometimes. Unless we kill someone or completely screw over someone else, then what reason does he have to not open his gates for us. I am not a righteous man, I am not a holy man; however, I don't want to believe in a cruel God although sometimes it can be easy to. I believe in an apathetic God. If you don't mind sharing I'd like to hear a bit of your beliefs and explanation as to why you feel not good enough for Heaven, because personally I sometimes feel the same, well just not good enough for anything really.

but people that kill people have mental issues. That's not very fair... for God to make someone with mental issues that make them do bad things, then to deny them into heaven.

Well it's not always mental issues, that's the thing. I hear that if you ask for forgiveness then God will give it to you though.

Most of my posts are very personal and I reveal details I never talk about in real life so it hurts a bit to read some of the negative posts but I post it to get truthful answers so I appreciate all the responses.

Depends what the situation is. If it is a pain inflicting experience like a seizure or heart attack, I think you would awake. If it was a less painful event like a stroke or an apnea, it is unlikely to feel. But the fact of the matter is that most deaths are painful, so I'd need to put yes.

  • What we call 'death' is really just a transition into the next form. Our bodies are containers for our 'souls' and yes you are 'aware' you've passed generally speaking.

Typically on the other side you won't have any anger, regrets or bad feelings.

From my experience there's only love and feeling completely at peace, warm and a sense of belonging and finally being 'home' -beyond anything you could ever experience as a human being.

It's not something words can accurately describe.

Imagine being in love with your soulmate and the best sex you've ever had X unlimited and you might be getting close to the sensation's I'm trying to describe but not really.

Those would be human emotions for and with another human. I can only assume what I've experienced were spiritual sensations with another being on another plane of existence. The two are not comparable.

I'd assume people (other than myself) that have been to 'the other side' realize how petty and insignificant human sensations are. No matter what good sensations a human being experiences it is a tiny fraction of the love, comfort, warmth and sense of belonging experienced.

    Don't fear death.

    Celebrate life :)

    • Can I ask...under what circumstances did you have this experience?

      Comment Hidden ( show )
        -
      • Yes you can ask (no problem) but I don't want to go into details.

Let's just say I had a near death or temporary death experience when I was younger.

The reason I am alive is because I was given a choice to come back or not come back (here). I chose to come back.

I sometimes wonder if I made the correct choice but ultimately I know I did because 'that other place' is waiting for me after this experience.

And no, I'm not religious at all and I don't go to church and never did.

NDE is one of my goals in life.

            -
          • I can understand that but please don't try to self induce a NDE, things can go horribly wrong.

There are techniques which you can learn to give yourself OBE's if that means anything to you.

I'm not experienced/practiced enough to do them yet myself but hopefully one day I will be.

I've had OBE's before and they're amazing which is why I want to learn to self induce them.

Get on amazon and google for books on it the practice ;)

If you get a point where you can achieve them using a technique please post back here and share !

            Thanks.

Well it seems like the topic is drifting toward 'dying in a dream'. I've several death dreams. I had dreams where I died and went to hell and dreams where I was on the edge of the universe talking to God. It has nothing to do with actually dying, it's just your brain preparing you for your next life event.

I hope not; it would feel very unfair and cruel to have my life taken away and not even have awareness of it. Your last experience alive, an experience you can only have once, and you'd want to miss it because you overslept? Not for me, thanks :P

I doubt you have the consciousness to feel it, though.

  • Sometimes yes, like for instance when you wake up enough to at least cosciously think "oh shit I'm dying."

But the other times when the person didn't, they didn't.

I've killed myself in sleep many a time. Sometimes, I felt the pain mixed in with the other things and it was so realistic. I wasn't like really like "Oh, shit!", though sometimes I was, but that factor depended on the situation of the dream. I have had some really intense nightmares where in which something or someone was trying to kill me and I was screaming and crying while doing my best to run away. Those types have been very unpleasant.
