If you dedicated life like it was a video game

You know I was thinking. If we stopped playing video games and just did the stuff we do in them in real life we could become just as good as our characters maybe even better. Archery, athletics shooting etc whatever you play if you just did it in real life the amount you do in game think how good or fit you would be.

Help us keep this site organized and clean. Thanks!

In reality, you can't die and come back to life to begin anew like in video games.

I could be a sim and waste my life stuck in place because of a plate stuck on the floor... Oh wait I already do that

I'm with you. Archery and lockpicking are extremely useful and it's a shame so many people waste time "learning" valuable skills in a video game that they neglect to even bother to try in real life.

Ah, yes. I could be a vampire who goes around robbing everyone after closing shut some gates to Hell. I could save the world from demons and then take part in an experiment in which the gods give me a ten year old girl and a demon butler and tell me to take good care of the girl just to see how good of a parent the man who saved the world is. Then I'd give permission for said girl to marry a dragon boy who happens to be the grandson of an old perverted dragon who would give my daughter lingerie. I could rule over a country for thousands of years, constantly warring against other countries in an endless stalemate. I could go on vacation and suddenly find myself trying to solve the mystery of my kidnapped friend, only to be tricked into finding a treasure for the kidnappers. I could agree to escort an old hairy man across the universe, only to crash land on a planet with five other people of unknown race and no idea what we're doing only to become gods by the end of our adventure. I could be a psychic warrior who travels into people's brains to save the world.

All those things are totally feasible; yes.

I doubt many gamers would disagree. But real life activities costs way more money. Imagine trying to become even an amateur hobbiest race car driver irl, you're talking tens of thousands.

    • Like I was saying in my description practical shit like archery shooting lockpicking agility running etc. Obviously video games give access to fantasy elements and things only rich can do but for ths actual other practical shit. If people actually did it in real life instead of grinding away in a video game at these very achievable goals. Over reading everything. Jesus christ you guys

Ok I get you, in that case then I totally agree. I definitely want to learn certain skills to try to live up to my video game heroes: long-distance running, free running, fighting, swimming, driving etc. There's also lots of fun little video game challenges that are easily achievable irl like obstacle courses, target knife/rock throwing, rc vehicles, etc.

And then, while video game environments are obviously prettier than real life, and real life is miserable looking by comparison, you can still make the most of real life by going to the park or transforming your garden into a beautiful idyllic 'level'. Plus it is still possible to go on adventurous holidays to different environments like mountains, forests, deserts, etc. at least every now and then.

Plus you and some friends could form a group that creates real-life video game challenges for each other. Like finding a load of hidden items within a time limit, or delivering items to their destinations within the time limit, etc. or even something more elaborate like some mystery rpg.
