The past really does not bode well for a person of color...especially a female. I am content to remain in the present.

if i could pick i would want to be born in the early '50s, attend Woodstock '69, In the Flesh tour '77 (Pink Floyd), rock out to all the 80s music and yeah...i'll be one of the cool old people in the crowd of a Nirvana show ('90s). And hopefully i could live to enjoy the music of the '00s and '10s. too bad all i got to see was the '90s,'00s, and i'm living the '10s.
    anyone else?

Who says we want to live in the 1900's?

    none.

because no matter how nostalgic things look when you're looking at the past, there's always a dark side that goes hand in hand with the bright spots

Where'd the 20's go? I'd be all over the early feminist movement and flapper clothes. Also, I'd sell all my stocks BEFORE the market crash, and cash out to Mexico.

If my skin color didnt matter, I'd live in the 60's. Flower power baby.

Be born around 1930 so I could've had my young adulthood starting around 1950.

I really don't like modern-day America. The culture is trash, reality TV, every pop-song is about sex/drinking/drugs, VD is more common than ever, nobody my age (early-20s) cares about relationships it's all a big game, sties like Facebook and Twitter have made people extremely narcissistic, the rapid pace of the digital-age has made people more impatient and have a less wide attention span than ever, etc.

The 50's did have the Korean War, so it's possible I could've gotten drafted for that and died. But at least back then the wars were actually for something. We were fighting against communism. What're we fighting for today? We've been in Afghanistan for over a decade and so far nothing's come of it yet. It's just a bunch of mountain people taking pot shots at our soldiers for a decade with the occasional firefight in some village or roadside bomb

    90s UK!

People who think they'd be happier in the 1910s, 20s, 30s, 40s are thinking of themselves as being wealthy citizens. If you were poor in that time or had little to no rights (if you were female, non-white, an immigrant) you would not be living it up having fancy tea parties, playing piano whilst drinking gin with your friends discussing politics and fine cuisine. You'd be struggling every day. Not to mention the horror of the World Wars.

A lot of you watch old movies and absorb them as though they are all historical documentaries, you forget the MASSIVE rose-tinted spectacles over the lens. It wasn't all romance and riches.

The 1980's were probably the best time to be alive in one's prime. I love the outlandish fashion trends of the decade, along the video games, music (New Wave and Heavy Metal are my two favorites), and let's not forget that MTV in those days only showed... MUSIC VIDEOS!!

  • I'd always go with the 1920s. Parties, fashion, debauchery--my idea of a very good time.
