If you could go back in time to stop one of things, what would you do?

Stop the Holocaust 165
Stop George Lucas from deciding to make Star Wars prequels 74

I'd go back in time and tell Stephenie Meyer that a book about a sparkling vampire and a werewolf is a dumb idea, it wouldn't take off and nobody would like it >:-D

  • What?!?! How dare you imply that Episode III was not utterly sublime and brilliant.

I will destroy you, I will smash, I will- Ohhhh...Shiny.

Having never seen a single Star Wars film the second option would make no difference to me.

prevent an event would create a space time anomaly... if holocaust was prevented, then Hitler would be out on the streets trying to make a living as a painter (which was his original plan before he was rejected by all the art colleges ) doing this could have prevented several events, causing a different fate... wait, then it wouldn't be all bad because if the holocaust would have never happen, there might not be a 9/11 attack in New York... click.

What if I wanted to pick neither choice?

There is absolutly no way one person could do either of the things listed... at least not outside of some very specific circumstances. (For the holocaust, Kill/restrain instigators before the propaganda storm... which doing such before they start plotting runs into some weird ethical and moral issues.((Also, I have a feeling WWII would have still happened given all the political unrest. so don't count on saving everyone.)) and for Lucas, well... somehow meet and win an argument with him.)

changing such a large aspect of history is a weird ethical and moral issue itself. That said many would feel it is worth it to stop somthing like the holocaust. (It would also have the nice side effect of making the "Just like Hitler!!!" political argument invalid. That would be another incentive.)
If I could go back in time, I don't think I would use it for much. Call me selfish.

I wouldn't stop the Holocaust, despite how terrible it was. I just have the feeling it was meant to happen.

Agreed. I feel that it happened to teach the world a lesson. If it wouldn't have happened then, it would happen eventually. It's an example for governments of what not to do.

Umm... George Lucas never forced anyone to watch those movies, so I don't get what's so horrible about them. If you don't like them, don't watch them. Simple.

I'd tell Jesus to wait a couple thousand years. Then maybe we would be a lot more organized these days.
