Okay, say hypothetically that there -is- without a doubt a group of elites that pull the strings of the world. Assume someone offers you to be in said group, but if you say no they will kill you.
If you were in such a position of power, what would you do with it?
Think about the world's finances, social issues, resources, etc. Also think of how your actions would affect you and others in and out of this group of elite, whether they are friend or foe, whether or not you care what happens.
What would be important to you? Would you try to help the world or help yourself?

    I'd help myself and even give the world a lending hand.

    First I'd set up myself and my family for life. I'd help my friends. I'd invest in real estate and two business ideas I have. I'd buy 10+ cars and a yacht.

    I wouldn't get too involved in running the world, cause the more I get into it, the more I'm a part of that shadow "elite". Also if someone told me to star a war, I'd tell them to piss off. I'd be a bit of a slacker, so they don't rely on my support, or actions too much. But I would invest in science. Renewable energy, alternative energy, hydrogen internal combustion engines, advances in science and medicine. I'd even make a buck on the side from all of that. Everyone wins. Nicer and cleaner world for the people, a vacation fund for me.

    After I have helped myself and the world. I'd get more people involved to do my job for me, so I can focus on my private businesses and future family.

    I'm not so sure about being part of a group, but if I had ultimate power over everybody on the planet the first thing I would do was eliminate any person who intentionally caused harm to another person. Next I would eradicate anyone who put money ahead of the environment, be they individuals (like a fisherman ignoring catch limits) or the corporate heads of companies that do so.
    I would insist on a policy of making renewable energy a number one priority for any company that produces a product that uses or sells fossil fuels, such as oil companies and auto manufacturers.
    After that, I'd probably need a bit of a vacation on my little boat in the Caribbean, before I gathered a group of advisers to help me with things I have little knowledge about, that needed to be addressed.
