If the world doesn't end in 2012 will u keep believing it will later?

Here's a curious thought: How can we REALLY tell the date? We use a calender based on mathematical equations with months named after anciend Greek emperors. Is it REALLY 2010 right now? Perhaps in the grand scheme of things, 2012 was actually 40 years ago. Or perhaps it is still the year 1984. As far as time goes, all we have is math to prove it, and like society, it has flaws. =) Nothing is perfected.

The world will eventually end. It could be from a supernova, astroid, the next ice age. All these things are going to happen, we just aren't positive when.

I went to a series of lectures last year which talked about how science is outrunning our ability to protect the planet from it. The estimation is that there's a 50/50 chance we won't get to see the year 2250.

It may not worry you because this tipping point falls outside your lifetime. But given that there has been life on this planet for 3.5 billion years and that we're quite probably just a number of generations away from there not being life here any more, it's actually fairly concerning.

Everything that has a beginning has an end. The Earth was created in Darkness and thus it will be destroyed in darkness. It is called the circle of life my friend.

i believe the 2012 thing could be true, but i dont know. but even if the world doesnt end in 2012, it will still eventually happen anyway, i mean this world cant last forever

Alright, I'm going to get really technical and geeky here: scientists have said that eventually, the sun will cease to warm the earth and provide light because it is a star, and stars eventually die out. But this won't happen for at least billions of years. I believe the world will end, but we won't be around to see it, so keep your pants on.

I'm not worried if it happens it happens but i don't believe it will.

They already got a couple more dates out there for us to look forward to if this 2012 thing doesn't work out...plenty of time to build new conspiracies and a huge new fan-base for the end of the world.
And, in reference to dappled, the human race may die out, but there will likely still be life here for a very long time. Even if we lasted another million years our race's age still pales in comparison to that of others that have ruled this planet.

The world ends when either:

1. the universe no longer expands and begins to shrink;
2. a giant meteor lands itself on the earth; or
3. we observe the end of the lifetime of the proton, which is around 2.1 x 10^29 years.

Yeah it will end soon. However scientist, religious people and conspiracy theorist alike have tried and guess and got it wrong several times over. The truth is there is so many ways that we would handle a disaster that their is no garentee that all of our or all of another species is going to die for sure. So we really cant say if there is going to be an complete end since things will survive. So we might as well survive happily while we can and not think about it. If religion, theorists and scientists are all taking a whack at it and failing I think its easy to say there is no real way to predict it unless maybe we have a crystal ball.

2012 was a joke made by some dude (remember the ppl said that on 2012 december 21 world would end and they said those words on april 1st 2010

The world will end eventually and there are plenty of valid guesses as to how, why and when this will happen. But the reality is, we will die as a civilization long before the world "ends". We are running out of room on our planet to keep reproducing. We are running out of room to put our garbage and our deceased. We are running out of clean drinking water. Just these 3 basic problems alone will spell the end of the human race long before the sun burns out or a large enough meteor hits us or any other way scientists tell us it will happen.

So let's not worry about the end of the world. We can't prevent it. Things will end. We will all die one day whether it be the time of human extinction all at the same time, or if it happens tomorrow for some normal reason. So why worry? Just be here now, be present.

The world DEFINITELY is going to end philosophically, religiously(Abrahamic) and scientifically.

The world physically ending? I dont think that will happen for a LOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG time, but there is a chance for a major war to erupt and reduce most of civilization to ruin. Seems to run in cycles, dont it? Civilization advances, for a long time, then a bunch of savage dicks completly obliterate it, and were forced back to the middle ages.

of course the worlds going to end, but its going to be millions of years from now. and i doubt we will be here. think about it, we've only been alive for 30-40 million years? i think we only have a few million left either before someone starts a world war and we all die or a giant meteor comes in and we die. 2012 is a joke.

I don't hold a firm belief on it. All I know is that life is a mystery where us humans try to make sense out of every little thing...

People will just F-up the world at a greater pace. Like when 2000 happened and Jesus didn't come and the world didn't end. Lots of people lost faith and quit going to church.

i do not think the human race will die out anytime soon, but i do think in the next couple of hundred years, we will be far worse off and living in much less habitable conditions. our technology will keep many of us alive, however the quality of life will have dropped quite low.
(this is in response to the prospect of humanity dying, i do not believe the entire world will end until billions more years)

i cant remember what year it was but ther was a year in the 19th century in germany and some scientists said that the world was going to end so something like 20 thousand people set fire to them selfs :S so i dont know if a date they say will ever be true , i think you cant predict things like that , it wil happen when it is gunna happen .

its not the end, but a new beginning. we will see what is true and what is lies( hopefully)
