It might open up because your president is a moron and ultimately it’s his decision.
Trump can spew whatever stupid, ill-informed crap he likes, and he can make whatever decisions he believes will make his billionaire buddies, the malignant assholes at Fox and their delusional viewers happy, but governors, mayors and other low-level politicians have the power to behave sensibly at a local level.
From what I've been able to find, Mike Dewine, the Republican Governor of Ohio, appears to have kissed Trump's huge, flabby ass as often as any of his ilk, but unlike most of those fools, he's smart enough to have listened to the advice of medical experts as COVID-19 steamed towards the USA. So he ignored Trump's "It's all under control" BS and brought in some serious social-distancing measures sooner than most places, and that's paying off with a very low level of infections.
Trump may wish he was an all-knowing emperor and he can pretend that he is as much as he wants, but the USA is not run by an absolute monarch.
Good I hope all states over rule him and keep Americans safe. Hopefully you will all now see trump for the moron that he is and kick him out the White House at your next presidential elections
It's kinda like gun laws, you can outlaw them if you like but no ones gonna enforce it expect in the gay states
Considering the USA now has the highest rate of infection in the world and only a tiny percentage of your population has even been tested (at least partly because many people can't afford it) I feel very sorry for you all, but not for the idiots who've prevented "socialised medicine", ie universal health care like we have in Australia.
It would be VERY stupid to allow businesses to start up again while the infection rate is still rising.
It'll reopen, then close again a week or two later because the problem hasn't been solved. Might as well keep the country on lock down indefinitely.
I think it would be unwise to jump the gun like Trump wants. We need to continue to be patient so as to not have another surge of cases.
Nope, I'm pretty sure this will be the summer when the world learns what it's like to live as a depressed, anxious person with agoraphobia.
It has to open back soon in order to give the businesses time to reopen and get re-staffed. The airlines will have to ramp up and recertify planes that have been sitting too long without running. The hotels will need time to re-organize and staff up. Just so the Democrats can hold their Convention in August in Milwaukee. You don't think that they (Nancy Pelosi and the rest of her crew) would allow this pandemic to cancel that event do you?
I'm so frickin' sick of this goddamn political 'blame game'. It has gotten tiresome and ludicrous. Both sides can't work together because they both have their fair share of assholes in office, not to mention morons who always want to blame or put down the other side.
The entire function of a 2 party system is to create a polarizing True/false argument to keep people arguing. Things will continue as they are as long as people keep buying the illusion of choice.
Yes and they flip flop constantly.
At first when Trump closed down travel from China they said he was racist and overreacting, that the virus is less dangerous than the flu. Then Trump said the virus fake news and they magically swapped positions instantly and said he's not doing enough and the virus is serious.
They flip flop connnstantlyyy!!!!!
the corona virus is here to stay, it is a mutated version of the flu and we will adjust to it, the restrictions will be relaxed and perhaps go away, but the virus will remain, just as the H1N1, swine flu, bird flu and all the others. remember this is the 7th time there has been a corona virus in America. first one was in the 1960's
Lol you do realize you just stated what we all know already right? I know it's here to stay, I'm just asking if the number of cases go down if people think American's will go back to work by May 1st.
It's also not a mutated version of the flu. COVID-19 is a mutation of SARS as COVID-19 is not an influenza virus.
Just how long do people think the nation should be locked down? Sooner or later their unemployment and stimulus check will run out.
Meanwhile a lot of businesses are losing money.
If this corona BS were really as bad as they are acting like, there would not be "essential vs non-essential" business.
Trump is stupid enough to make it a reality, so I wouldn't put it past him, and his decisions are the only ones that matter in the grand scheme of things. But America should definitely NOT be "back to normal" by May 1st.
