If someone entrusted you with a 2-yr-old child, would you raise it?

Let's say this is the future and you're a bit older (5-10 years older). You're in a successful job and you have a home. This dying person comes to your home with a 2-yr-old child in his/her (whatever you want) arms and the person begs you to raise his/her daughter/son (again, your choice) for him/her because the dying person is the child's sole parent. Would you do it? Or would the toddler go straight to the authorities or orphanage?

      I hope that doesn't make me seem cold, but I just couldn't bring myself to lose that much time and money and it isn't my job to do something that huge just because someone asked me to. I love having my own life too much for that. I'm very young now so maybe in 5 - 10 years I'll feel differently, but I wouldn't bet on it.

          Phew :P I'd feel bad about it in any case, and I'd hope the kid had gone to a good place. Huge respect for anyone who could commit to a responsibility that big, because I just couldn't do that.

    I would, but I'd always be afraid the authorities(read dickwads) would come and take her/him away.

    Of course I would though I would probobly doubt how well I would be for a child. I could not just watch as a child is left alone and without parents. No child should have to go through that. I already mapped out everything and how I would handle it. I have taken care of children before though so probobly wouldn't do that bad. Little kids generally really like me. If it was a teenager though not sure if I would be able to handle it. I hated teenagers when I was a teenager and I cant imagine raising one.

    I would under certain circumstances. But I would not lie and I'm pretty sure that I'll most probably refuse.

    My first instinct is to say hell no but I have seen such films as Curly Sue and Baby Boom so I might be convinced.
