If a guy always turns to stare at you in class? what is he thinking?

This guy in my English ALWAYS stares at me. He will literally turn in my direction and just stare with a blank, sometimes serious-ish and intense facial expression. Sometimes, he rests his hand on his face or tilts his head a little while doing so and when I look back he doesn't bother looking away, he just keeps on staring and he never smiles or blushes or looks away, he just has this blank, almost no-emotion stare. But sometimes, he'll stare with his eyes wide open like in surprise? This one time he even looked straight at me and then he looked right down at his pants/crotch when we were watching a movie in class and though the room was dark I could still feel his stares. What is up with him and what is he thinking/why is he doing this?

    He's daydreaming about what you'd look like chained up in his basement next to the others in his collection.

    He's completely harmless and just can't get up the nerve to actually say something to you. He probably beats himself up "You moron she was looking right at you and again you couldn't find anything to say."

      I actually use to do that with my ex. I always looked away when she looked at me though. I had the hardest time even talking to her at first though because she was the most beautiful woman I had ever seen. I eventually talked to her on facebook and the next day she started talking to me in class. And it just went on from there.

    I had a potential suitor that kept giving me these intense and emotionless states with wide eyes, sometimes. Absolutely unnerving and creepy. I don't know how you've managed to stood that for so long.

    He probably likes you. He could be social awkward or just extremely awkward around females, which would explain why he seems to lack this knowledge in regards to how he behaves towards you.

    Or, it could be for another reason.

    Ask him why in class when it isn't empty, that is if you want to know the real reason.

    He's infatuated with you. Enjoy it. He probably can't get the courage to ask you out yet, but you could give him a surge if you speak to him. Just say hello. Maybe even say. "I felt your eyes looking at me"
