I work with a very shady witch

I am 22 years old and I work with a young lady who is in a position higher up than me and she constantly acts like such a prick. I knew that she despised me from day 1 of the job, and I have heard her say horrible things about me with my own two ears. Not two long ago this young lady told another coworker that that "kayla (as in me) is so stupid," without knowing that I was totally within earshot of what she had said. I also heard this young woman make certain comments to her friends like, "Kayla is the ugliest person alive, or Kayla's hair looks pathetic." This woman is 24 years old and I just thought that those comments were ended after high school. Today, when she saw that I was looking at my upcoming work schedule, (a document in which all coworkers are entitled to see) she totally flipped out on me, and acted as if seeing someone else look at something that she wanted to view first was the worse thing that ever happened to her? What is her problem? And why is she acting this way? Seriously, I don't even think she realizes what kind of effect her comments have on me, because there have been countless times in which I have had to run to the supply room to avoid being seen in tears...... Could anyone tell me what is going on?

  • You are being victimized and bullied by this woman. She is poisoning your work environment. This is also called workplace harassment.

Document what was said, to whom, at what time and date. Be prepared to go to her boss with the documentation and tell what is going on, that it is harassment, and you want it to stop.

Document everything. You need to protect yourself. If there are other people she has bullied, which is likely, you may want to meet with together to come up with a joint strategy. But document.

YUP!!!!!!!! bullying is the story of my life:( I dealt with it all through school and now it has followed me to the workplace. So yeah as of now, this ring leader has a buddy who has also bullied me and her buddy, who is no higher up than I am, told me that I am not allowed to have a lunch break......... I followed your advice and I have no problem going to my supervisor and informing her about everything that is going on, because this needs to stop and I deserve more respect than this.........

You may seem weak. Just show that you are not.
Nobody ever tried to bully me. Maybe because they could not.

Why don't you call her out? Confront her, that's what I'd do, I wouldn't be able to help myself as snidey, slimey, cowardly people make my blood boil.

Frig I hate idiot coworkers. That's how it was at my old job. Thankfully I'm not there anymore. People at my new job are all nice to me, so life is better :)

This girl has some serious problems. Ollie is right, document everything and go to your manager about it. You can't possibly be the only person she has victimized this way, so exposing her for what she really is would not only be beneficial to you, but to other people whose lives she may be intent on destroying.

Just know one thing: This is all stemming from jealousy and her being very threatened by you. If she didn't consider you a threat, or competition or whatever, she wouldn't bother trashing you. So as hard as it is, try not to let it get you down too much or take it too personally. It's her problem, not yours, and I'm sure most of the people that she talks about you to think she's a bitch.

Ugh, she's horrible, you're a better person than me because I would have clocked this woman by now.

well thank you, that is very encouraging............ I really hope that everyone else thinks of her as a bitch..... but it just seems like I am the only one who sees her true colors.... of course I don't like gossip and drama, so nothing is for certain........ Why would she feel threatened by me, when I am in a position lower than she is?
