I have a habit of always wanting to buy things for people.......I wonder if they'd still like me if I stopped. Is this normal?
Well, one of the reasons that people are liked is because of their generosity. You're a generous person, materially. If you're generous in other ways (emotionally, for instance) there shouldn't be a problem. If the only thing you have going for you is your habit of giving little things, well that's something that could be improved. Being a good listener is a start.
i was like that before..i feel like me, in my opinion, you are insecure of having friends that stays with you unless you give something in return of their loyalty, hence the gifts.
i think that you should find friends who would stick with you through thick and thin, who may accept your gifts but give you one too. a give and take relationship is normal, just watch out for those parasites who live off other people's fears.
