Lady Rose is full of shit, shes basically saying that you "defended youre country" by killing some dude in his own country. You were the invader, and iraqi soldiers were the freedom fighters. If there was a war in US then you would be defending youre country. Lady Rose just trying to over-soften youre situation with religious stuff. you wont solve youre problems by helping some lazy muslims, youll get over it in youre head and think of some justification for what youve been done. Youll only solve youre problem yourself, someone who didnt see battle cannot help you on this.
By the way , remember the picket lines in europe from butt-hurt muslims saying "Kill those who insult islam."..."Europe will burn under islam"?
Anyways in my opinion, you just helped the banking elite create more oil companies and make them get richer and richer while youre emotional and mental well-being is getting poorer and poorer.

It's not normal to kill and feel no remorse. It will hit you sooner or later.

as failed mentioned, you have to ask yourself that question, there are different ways of killing...you killed with a more dominant position on the battlefield, so it was not necessary an act of a defense, it was more of the act of killing someone personally... unless youre were being ordered at that exact moment right then and there on which target to shoot or not

I think it is normal to wonder if you should feel bad. Is it normal not to feel bad? I don't know.

I have not been in war, nor killed anyone, but I think I could do so, and depending on circumstances I may feel good or bad about it.
    1) kill some shit about to torture a baby - I'd probably feel good about it.
    2) kill a baby even accidentally - definitly feel bad.
    3) you case, somewhere in between

Your experience is interesting in that you had more control than somone who fires a piece of attillery (possibly relating to 2), but was not specifically defending yourself either, making it both a personal act of killing, yet not self-defence, and I would assume visually immediate too (as compared to lobbing shells)too.

The only way to answer if you should feel bad is to know if you feel the killing was nessesary (i.e. justified and/or no other option - "I was ordered to, it was war" may not justify it).
So - if justified, feeling bad (or not) is normal. If unjust, feeling bad is normal.
Either way, playing mind-games with yourself and wondering if you are normal, is probably 100%% normal

Thank you for being there. It seems too many people have forgotten or don't care what happened on 9-11. I am proud there are still people like you. It may affect you or it may not. Just know that there are people rooting for people like you.

Should you feel bad.....? I believe this is something you have to ask yourself as well as answer yourself (although, unless you were just randomly shooting for target practice I don't think you should feel bad). None of us civilians know what was going on at that time or what the pressure of being in war is like. Solders fight, protect and give their lives for us on a daily basis. I am thankful for military personnel like yourself...you all have to do whatever it takes to keep us all safe and free.
