I want war

Im a 20 years old guy, middle class family, studying at university. My life is normal. Too normal.
I feel empty. Im feeling like there is no "big deal" in life, there is no purpose:
We live our calm lives, in our safe cities and towns...is that it?
Sometimes i think it would be great if there was a war. I mean a really BIG war.
Not because i like death and pain, but because i want something to fight for. Something noble to believe in, with my mates.
Fighting a mutual enemy, risking my life for something i believe, like to protect my country (or europe/nato in general) from an invasion.
If there were these premises, i would recruit immediatly.
IIN?

Sorry, there is nothing noble about killing and war.

Why not do extreme sports like sky diving, bungee jumping or something? War is bad, children and innocent people get killed. Just so you won't be bored? Go and have lots of sex and do sports like other young men do.

You're incredibly naive if you think war would be preferable to peace.

It's normal to desire excitement, upheaval, a break of routine, something life affirming and bonding.

    But war isn't that.

Imagine members of your friends and family being blown to pieces, maimed, tortured. Imagine everything you hold close and dear being reduced to rubble and meat. Imagine the constant terror, the constant threat. The animosity and the hatred. For years and years. That's if you're not one of the first shot to pieces and dumped in a ditch.

If you want something noble to fight for, fight for peace through diplomacy. Fight for the rights of those poor and disenfranchised, those oppressed and forgotten. How about becoming a journalist and reporting on the ongoing conflicts around the world? How about being an aid worker bringing supplies to those trapped in destitution? Or hey, you could just join the army.

But desiring some enormous, all encompassing conflict that would leave millions dead in the hopes of making your life a little more exciting is pathetic.

There are wars happening. Maybe not epic and huge like the ones in the history books, but that doesn't make them any less noble of a cause to fight for.

Go take your privlidge and volunteer in a war zone. Im sure they would love to have you.

Wars happen when there are so many men, that some of them cannot have sex. You need to buy porn, masturbate, and fuck prostitutes. A peaceful world is a good thing.

I think that you don't really know what you are asking for.

You want to live the rest of your life with PTSD? Have a few limbs blown off? Lose your sight, your hearing. Be tortured? Brain damage? Shrapnel? Go overseas, and meet new people, then kill them?

War is hell. But then you could always join the army.

You can always drop out and enlist in the army. No need for us to suffer.

That's what online gaming is for. You can fight for something great and noble, or you could fight for the glory of the Chaos Lords.

    I get what you mean.
I don't think war is the way to do it - really! But sometimes I feel the same, like a fantasy, because imagining risking your life for what you believe in feels much better than being "awake" and knowing I believe in nothing.
