I want to write mystery novels? iin?

I didn't go to school for anything involving writing, but for something else. is it normal I want to become a writer basically overnight and have my novels published?

I've been told by many that I'm a brillant writer and I have written various works throughout my life. I first wrote when I was just 7 years old and so, its just been a huge interest of mine. Do you think this is normal? Could I become a well-known writer if I actually start the writing process?

I have so many ideas that have never been published before and most are geared towards 16-30 year olds. I find this to be a pretty decent audience considering how novels become movies in an instant nowadays.

I have friends who are writers and friends who are frustrated writers and also a friend who is a world-famous writer (I'm not allowed to name-drop, so don't ask).

Advice from the writers: Persist, even when fifteen publishing houses knock you back. There is always a sixteenth publisher, or a new story by you to show to the first fifteen.

I agree with that as it took one of my friends fifteen years to get published. He's now given up his job and is a full-time writer.

Advice from the world-famous writer: Write something every day, even if it's only a page. Non-writers are just people who didn't write yesterday. It's easy to become a non-writer.

Well the main thing to do is to look up publishers and see what criteria they require.

and then get yourself a box of tissues to cry in because you're about to enter the world of rejection.

It's nothing about you personally - that's just the cold hard truth. All authors go through it.

And even after you make it you need to have strong skin because critics don't always give you good reviews.

You need to ask yourself why you want to do it. Is it because it is something you love or are you trying to become rich so you dont have to work anymore? If it is something you love then does it matter whether or not you are successful? Maybe you are looking for wider gratification rather than money. Ive also thought about trying to write a book. But I have never written anything before and Im sure I wouldnt be very good at it. But I do have an idea or two.
