Give all your money to someone you trust and only have them buy things for you until your cured.

I live Las Vegas and I freaking HATE gambling. It holds zero appeal for me. I wish you luck though.

Is this code for "I want my husband to quit cooking blue meth with Jesse Pinkman"? Nice try, Skyler.

  • you might have to take steps to help yourself like....telling friends and family the brutal truth , excluding yourself from venues if poss, getting psych help , joining groups etc .now is the time to let others help you too , i feel for you

If you really wanted to quit, you would already be on your way, a member of gambler's anonymous, not coming on here looking for what, exactly?

As a recovering addict of drugs and gambling, the addiction is as real as any narcotic. The rush of endorphins is too good a thing to pass up. Groups are great, so is psychotherapy. But you are going to have to have the WILL to quit. That's why so many convicted drug users who are forced into rehab eventually relapse: they didn't want to stop in the first place.

Take a good hard look at what is important in your life and prioritize it. Do you have family? Perhaps children? What if there is an accident? Will you have the money for medical care? Or to fix your car to go to work? Or to buy food for the week?

A good budget covers basic but the most required of necessities. Food and home are first. You can survive without that pack of smokes or a couple scratchers if it means you and your loved ones have a roof over their heads. (Take it from me, I learned the hard way when I got evicted.)

While the will to quit is one of the biggest steps in stopping an addiction, not everyone can do it on their own. That's where these Gambler's Anon groups come in. They will help you set up a budget, a plan that will ensure yours and your family's basic needs are met. On top of that, you can get a person like the sponsors in NA or AA. Someone who has been through what you have and can help get your mind in the right place and to make sure you don't relapse. But in the end, if you do relapse, that's okay. A properly set up budget using banking tools such as long term savings that cannot be touch unless both you and your sponsor or a loved one are there really helps, and when/if you DO relapse, this budget will ensure you can only spend your weekly or monthly "fun money" or petty cash for minor purchases, while your bills and family are taken care of. No worries about possibly gambling away your rent money or car payments. I hope this helps, this plan certainly helped me.
