I want to live by the sea

Often, I have this wish to live by the sea which is nearly untouched by nature. I know you are probably thinking that it is because I want to be by the waves, sea the sun rise/set everyday, embrace the beauty of the scenery, etc. None of the above are the main reasons why I want to live there. The main reason why I would like to live there is because I am convinced that instead of having to go to a supermarket or fishmongerer to pick up fresh seafood and such, all I would need to do is fish from my back yard. Of course I'm not saying that I will become 100% self sufficient, but I wish to have some delicacies for free and such.

Is it normal to have this wish?

    If you can afford a home on the water, anywhere on this planet, then you'll have all the money you need to buy your seafood and no time to catch it, because you'll be way too busy making the money to pay for your waterfront home and the taxes on it. Waterfront property is very EXPENSIVE, so you'd better start saving your allowance, NOW!

    The money saved from catching seafood doesn't equal up the extra money spent on buying a waterside property. You should probably also consider the damaging effects of sea salt on buildings. It can get pretty nasty.

    Not only do you have to understand the usually astronomical amounts of money that you usually have to pay for these properties but, you have to think about the possibility of potentially dangerous water related phenomenon: Tsunamis, Hurricanes, Waterspouts/Tornadoes, Whirlpools (etc.)

    I live opposite a beach, yet think nothing of it. Sometimes I want to live in the country side in the middle of nowhere.

    There's also rising water levels due to Global Warming and the melting of the icecaps. Flooding will always be a possibility.
