I want to hear a scar story

Tell me a story about one of your scars. Not an emotional one, a physical one. Although it could be both, but tell me about a mark on your skin.

Is it normal to be fascinated with scars?

I have a scar that starts between my third and fourth knuckle and extends halfway down the back of my left hand. It's a straight, white, broken line caused by the family pet when I was three or four. I only vaguely remember what happened but I'm sure I deserved it. For some reason, I never told my parents I'd been bitten. The dog died on my first day of school a year later. I was up early to get ready and I was the one who found her on the couch, with her tongue lolling out.

They buried her under the apple tree in the back garden and every year in which the apples were good, I saw a look in my mother's eye somewhere between affection, and gratitude, and lingering loss. The neighbours and my dad often wanted to cut the tree down because it blocked the light but my mother wouldn't have it. I think she'd have defended it with her life. We sold the house when my childhood ended and my mother found out from the ex-neighbours, a year or two later, that the new owners had cut the tree down to a stump. To them, it was just an apple tree. Maybe not even that. Maybe just an annoyance.

There's a tradition in my family of keeping the collars of pets when they have gone; some last tangible link to them, I guess. It was after the news of the apple tree that my mother discovered the collar had been lost in the house move. I guess she must have been looking for it specifically because of the tree.

We have our memories, but memories aren't permanent and - in some ways - are unreal. When I look at the back of my hand, that scar is real. It links me directly to the past and to that dog and to what happened that day. I'm glad to have it. It's not like a mole or a blemish or something natural. It's the mark of an event, the proof of a life, a physical sign of how we change each other, how even animals change us.

  • I was bored, so I sliced in to my arm with a knife.
I was bored, so I burn my forarm with a match.
I was bored, so I burn my arm with cigeretts.
I was bored, so I cut my leg to see the blood.
I was bored, so decided to break a window.
I was bored, so I cut my face with a knife to see the blood on my face.
I was bored, and I accidently burned a bit of my arm while ironing...

All of those describe most of my scars.
Except the burning is by accident.

lol. I was bored, so I burnt myself with an iron. I didn't think about those ones until I read this. I also used to use sharp or semi-sharp objects to create a linear scar on my leg, starting when I was 10.

Other than that, just some scarred up knees from being a kid.

i have a scar on my left knuckle because when i was 9 someone told me i was very week and i couldn't do anything with my left arm. so i said i can do lots fighting wise and then they kept calling me a wimp so i punched a window though... it was stupid and i have a scar to remind me how stupid i was as a child. one perfect circle on my chest where my brother decided to put a lit fag there and ask if it hurts. all i can say was of cause it bloody hurt. ones on my arms when i was stupid enough of cutting myself. loads on my knees. massive one on my right knee when i got a stone stuck there. one one my leg from when my bf's dog jumped up me and cut my leg... that's just a few.

  • When I was 5 years old I was in a car crash.
The car contained me, my grandparents, my brother and my sister.
We had been at the lake (bathing) and were going to go home.
As we went home we met a truck that was driving in the middle of the road
    (small country road)
We met the truck right after a turn and the sight was bad because of trees surrounding the road, we had no other option than to quickly turn into the ditch and there we hit a tree.

My sister died and I got really injured.
To this day I still have scars on my left shoulder, my left knee, the upper part of my right leg and a bunch of scars on my head that are covered by hair
(But no hair grows where the scars are)

One of those scars are going kinda into my head, it's around 3 centimeters long, 4 millimeters wide and 3 millimeters deep.
I also can't hear anything on my right ear and I sometimes feel pain in the deep scars on my head

When I was about 10 I picked up this wildish cat and it scratched my tit real deep. I'm 33 now and you can still see it, but it's not glaringly obvious, you can only see it if you are looking right for it. I've been scratched my many a cat but this one was badass.

I have a few minor scars from old piercings.

    That's about it.

I had a boob job but the scars are not visible in the least. The one thing you'd think would leave scars and it didn't. I had an awesome Dr.

Yes it is normal to be facinated with scar stories, I usualy get entertained by them as long as they are not self inflicted!

I have a large circular scar on my breast bone, when I was younger I wrecked my bycicle and the exposed handle bar end acted like a cookie cutter that punched strait to my sternum, leaving a large circle of exposed bone!

I also have a strange line running down my back where a large ammount of electricity entered my shoulder, and followed the sweat down, blowing out my lower back above my bum. Now, now matter how high I wear my pants it looks like my crack is out!

There are 2 scar stories for you lolz

I have an electrocution scar too. Only it's just a little wrinkle on the tip of my finger. I was a curious 5 year old who insisted on learning the hard way. It was one of the few times I ever saw my dad scared. There is a picture of me in a soccer uniform and you can see all the tiny bandaids on my fingers that's holding the ball.

i'm not sure if it count as a scar but the skin on one of my palms is like weirdly thin from when i was about 7/8 years old playing in the car park with my brother and sister and i tripped and skidded across the car park (we were playing bulldog, and it was a council estate shitty car parks made of grit)
but yeah i tore the skin off of my palm and my knee, and its taking forever for the skin to grow and be normal again, like whenever i've been exercising or just got my blood running if you look at it there's patches that are red where you can see my blood.
but pretty much my only interesting "scar".

I once burned my arm with a hot plate. I was heating up a frozen dinner and I stuck it on a metal tray. I waited for quite awhile. When it was done, I put on a oven mitten and took it out. It was around that point that the boiling hot tray touched my arm and it stayed there. I didn't keep it there for masochistic reasons, but because I was neither aware of it and nor could I feel it! It stayed there for a few minutes until I was able to feel it. When I did the pain consumed me like a forest fire and I hastily "threw" the damn tray on top of the oven. I was cursing and in tears as I stuck my arm under the facet. About 1hr or so later, it had formed a "scab" of burnt skin. I was scared to death of people seeing it and questioning me about it and during that week it got to the point where I could no longer bare to look at it. So, one day I picked of a bit off it and then the next I took the rest off. It was pink and for many months it was a brown line. Now the mark is still there, but it has become barely noticeable.

    Oh fun. XD

I have one on the back of my head that's pretty nice, from starting a mosh pit at a "concert" in my high school out of boredom.

One on the roof of my mouth. Got a free slushie at skating playing a game and went to request a song. Bitch skating past me, lost her balance and manically threw her arms out to the side. Slushie straw becomes weapon of mass mouth bleeding. Didn't get to finish the slushie. :(

One on my knee from racing a bus on rollerskates. I beat the bus... right before I fell... I wonder if anyone took pictures. O.o

And one on the back of my hand from vodka and wanting to be like Tyler Durdine. I didn't have lye, but I had a cigarette. It's pretty awesome.

I have shitload more, but those are the cool ones

Injury scars have way better stories than tattoos!!!

Road rash scaring on my arm by my elbow, my shoulder and back near the kidney area and under my hair on my scalp. This is what I was told by a witness who was on his front lawn at the time. He happened to know my Dad and knew who I was when he saw me laying there.
I had an awesome day downhill biking no crashes or injuries. It was on the way home when I biffed it. I was going down a neighborhood hill just as I do everyday (that part I remember) and the edge of a sunken manhole cover caught my front tire.
I was told it ripped the handlebars out of my hands and launched me over the front. I hit the asphalt head first, ripped my bmx style helmet off, rolled 25 yards downhill into on coming traffic barely smashing my head under a car tire that swerved to miss me and then skid on my back 5-8 more yards finally smacking my head on the curb and laying in the gutter. I remember laying there eyes closed, pitch black, hearing cars pass me and hearing the crowd gather around, but I couldn't wake up. I started thinking about my boyfriend (now husband) thinking that I never had a chance to say bye.
Then I thought of my Mom. How she going to take care of me? I had just taken my Dad to the hospital that morning for rotator cuff surgery, because she took my sister for some hemmeroid surgery that same day. Then not to forget my brother who just had knee surgery two days before.
I heard the ambulance in the distance and then the crazy part. My head and neck stopped burning and then I felt really realxed. I stood up and looked around and saw the ambulance. Then I looked down and saw myself laying there! It wasn't scary. It was peaceful and pleasant. I thought I was dreaming. I started feeling kind of bad when I saw them cutting off what was left of the shirt I was wearing. It wasn't my shirt, it was a firends. I thought, 'uh oh'. I guess she'll be okay with it. She'll understand. I thought I was dead and I was okay with it. I can't describe it anymore than that.
Standing there looking around at everyone started going dark again and then the pain set in. I woke up with the paramedics sticking their fingers in my mouth and I heard something about teeth and blood. Then all the random thoughts started again...NOT MY MOUTH!!! I love my mouth!! I have awesome teeth! I love my smile and my teeth are so white! It's all natural and I am lucky! I started coming to because I wanted to figure out what was going on with my teeth. I moved my tongue slowly around my mouth only to find my teeth were fine. It was a huge bite I took out of my lip. (Which worked to my benefit. It makes my bottom lip look pouty now with no scar lol)
I think they saw the response of me moving my mouth checking my teeth and then they started asking questions. When they asked where I wasI said the wrong address because I was literally knocked 'into yesterday' but I corrected myself. That's when I knew I was going to be okay when my brain was working. The feeling came back into my legs and fingers as well as the pain turning to be unbearable.
I kept passing out because of the pain. I remember yelling at the EMTs because the neck brace they put on my was hurting really bad. They said it was normal. (turns out is wasn't) I remember a flash of the ambulance ceiling and cute EMT :), then a flash of the MRI, and then I really woke up when a lady stared scrubbing my road rash with scowering pads. I didn't feel right, but they released me from the hospital the same day. I have short term memory issues and suffer bad headaches from my neck...thanks a lot guys. Some days I can't even hold my head up BUT I'm glad to be alive.
You should have seen it. It was kind of commical sitting in the family room watching TV with my dad, brother, sister and I all on pain killers laughing at stuff that wasn't even funny...like commericals. Then I would start crying thinking of how much hair I lost on the back of my head or wanting potato chips and french onion dip(I hate french onion dip! I don't do well on medication lol) and then my Dad would start crying (he was no good on pain killers either) then my sister would start laughing hysterically at the both of us and my brother would start getting angry because he couldn't hear the TV (him on pain killers...not so good either). I am so thankful for my Mom!!!!!!!! She put up with a lot!
The scars on my body are still really sensitive and it happened 6 years ago! My hair grew back and I'm managing my headaches.

I'm sorry you had to go through that, but the part where you said that you looked down and saw yourself lying there, that was definitely a Out of Body Experience or O.B.E.

That was the most bizzare thing anyone could experience. I can't even explain it. Without being in person, it's hard to get the actual feeling across. Weird for sure!

And I do know someone with "your name" tattooed on her ass. That makes for a good story.

I got a big scar from my lower lip to just above my chin, got jumped by a few lads outside of a club. Got kicked in the face and split my lip completely in half, along with losing a few teeth. Took a long time to get sorted, but looks good now. I love it...

I have a large scar on my left arm. When I was little, I was feeding a horse and it got too close to my face, scaring me, so I jumped and barbed wire on the fence scraped deeply through/across my arm.

All my other scars are from cutting, before I got counselling and sorted out my life.

    Do tattoos count? Haha!

I have one on my forehead from swimming into a ladder at a public pool.

My friend and I were playing around in the pool and she shoved my head under the water and then I swam away without looking where I was going. Next thing I know, I hit my forehead against the sharp edge of the ladder. It didn't hurt much at all. She came running up to me and I had my hands over my eyes and forehead acting like it really hurt. She told me to put my hands down, so I did and I started acting like I was fine. She then said "you're bleeding". I said "what!" and looked at my hands there was blood all over them. A lady close by yelled "get out of the pool", she was afraid that I had aids. I ended up getting sent to the emergency room and had to get my forehead glued. I had to keep it there for about 2 weeks so it could heal well. Lol.

I have several other scars from being clumsy and burning myself by accident.

  • I was welding some bullshit at work and forgot how hot this shit gets, so a part of it nicked me on my forearm. I don't work there anymore, because I'm not a welder. Now there's a massive red scar on my forearm.

The moral? Don't be an idiot and do shit you're not being paid for.

Mmm, I love scars. Okay, here goes:

I was at the MMA studio/karate dojo/whatever that I train at, and there are these huge swords on one of the walls. While sparring with someone, I was pushed into that wall and the sword, loose in its sheath, fell out and made a huge cut on my bicep.

    The end.

  • The first I got was when I was about 4 or 5. It was my birthday and I was really excited and we were at Wal Mart getting a few things. While my dad wasn't looking, I ran off, grabbed a cart and started racing down the aisles with it.

I tripped and hit my temple against the sharp corner of a counter. I remember holding my hand up to my forehead and bringing it down only to see it drenched in blood.

The scar itself is hardly noticeable but it runs at the very end of my right eyebrow.

Wrists, arms and legs because of cutting. I have one on my face from where I hit a dresser as a toddler. I have one on my hand from when I tripped and fell on a Bob The Builder toy. And one where I woke up and backhanded the TV stand, I have no idea why I did that.

When I was 8, my grandmother was chasing me through the house to whack me for doing something. I don't remember what I did wrong. She eventually cornered me and held me down and smacked my upper left arm. What she didn't know was that I was holding a pair of scissors (I don't remember why for that, either). So when she hit me, the scissors got imbedded in my calf. Only 3 stitches but it went quite deep.
