I want to grow moldy food

Okay I know it's not normal, but I'm curious if anyone else has thought about or done this. If so, vote yes, if not, no. So sometimes food gets left in the fridge too long and grows mold. Sometimes I think it would be fun to grow some on purpose and observe how it changes over time - months, or maybe even years. Has anyone thought of or done this?

  • Oh my gosh! I've always wanted to grow mold on food, especially penicillium. I would like to see if I can make an antibiotic poultice with it...that would be so cool...

Plus the decomposition process is fascinating. Go you!

You know whats delightful to watch spoil? Milk. First chunks form. Then it begins to seperate and forms distinct layers. Then the colors come. Ohhh the colors! Its magnificent.

I don't set out to rot food but it happens a lot and I will purposely not throw it out so I can observe it. So I think your curiosity is normal.

Try a twinkie. Those nasty things will still be 'fresh' long after humans are extinct.

I heard they turn into cockroaches after a nuclear blast. Or is it the other way around?

Cockroaches hide in the cream filling during nuclear blasts. They're like mini bunkers.
