I want to escape from modern society

It's just that so many things in modern day don't make sense to me. Money is backed up by gold and silver. If I were stranded on an island monetary units, gold, and silver would do me no good at all. So why don't we just trade things like we used to? Modern technology is useless to me. I just want to live on my own with no one telling me what to do. I don't want to have to pay taxes. Can't we just live life the way it should be? Simple? Humans make life so much more complex than it should be.

Exactly, why die old and unhappy? I would rather die young but very happy. Plus, I'm very interested in medicinal plants. I could always grow plants that help with specific needs.

Most of the illness exist because of society, pollution, mutation and importation from other countries. it is true that you might die younger but anyway personnaly I prefer to die younger with a smile on my face rather than die when I was kept alive by 8 different machines and no real objective.. jst waiting for the creepy guy in dark to come pick me

Actually, that's what the Amish do. They live near modern society but separate from it. They graduate school in 8th grade and then have rheumspringa in their teenage years and if they decide to stay, then they get married, have kids, and work on a farm for the rest of their lives. They can eat whatever, too, but have no technology because they believe it detracts from family time. No pictures, even by tourists, because to have a picture of oneself us considered like pompous or something. Oh, and they make the BEST pretzels!

It's not so much that I want to be alone, I would actually love to have others there. I just don't like that we NEED money to get food. If I had enough land, I could grow my food. But I don't want a government, or to have to pay taxes. I want to grow and search for food, like humans are supposed to. I just want to be free.

I think most of us want that, I know I do.

Go to a trip for a couple of days to a place with no humans and the traces of modern society, take only some food and a tent. That helped me :)

I lived in Alaska all my child hood, its a beautiful place, and would be my definition of a escape. In fact I miss and think about that place all the time. An sense I have left there I have often felt the exact same way as you. I wouldn't say its normal but I wouldn't say its weird either. Ur just someone who likes to not waste time. So use all that built up energy into a sport or something. From the sounds of it you still live in ur house and are prob under 18 yrs of age. If thats the case try to do what I said until ur of age and you can leave after on a getaway. A.k.a (Alaska). Think logically tho, you dont want to be hasty and do something stupid like get eaten by a bear...

I feel the same way. If I were stranded on an island, just myself, and nobody with me. It sounds silly, but I really think I could survive on my own. It would be ten times better too, because no one would be there to judge you. You could walk around naked all day, and just let yourself go. Every human has it in them. They just need to have the mindset that they can go on like that. We've become too dependent on things that we really do have the ability to go without. And I don't know why, but I always think of feral children whenever stuff like this comes up. I guess its because there really are people out there who are people of the wild. Unfortunately, without other human interaction... we could be doing ourselves serious harm. We won't be growing the way we really should be. Mentally or physically. We could die from simply lonliness. Uh... I guess I'm starting to have second thoughts about this. I don't know.

I would love to do what you suggesting too, the problem is, we need society. As humans we are weak, we live in groups to prolong our lives. If you are willing to die by the age of ~40 then go ahead.
