I want to cry, but i can't..

I'm a male. It has been almost 10 years since was last able to cry. Life has been miserable. Suffering has been constant. I want to cry to wash out all the darkness. But It's like my brain has forgotten how to cry. I can't cry anymore.

Does anyone else experiences the same?

It seems that you have some kind of emotional block. Why don't you see a therapist?

A few years ago I had that same issue..... I was sad but couldn't cry! THEN I went off my anti-depressants (Lexapro) and discovered I could cry 'normally'!! It was the stupid drugs making me feel 'flat'. Don't know if you happen to be on medication, but if so, that is something to consider.

  • Firstly get your eyes checked by a Dr or optician to see if there's a problem....i find i hold my emotions in for a while then there's an unexpected trigger and it all comes out...maybe you just need to wait for that trigger?

After ten years of misery, you have cried your last tear. Your numbness is protecting you.

    • Is there a way to get over emotions, so that nothing matters/affects you? I know that nothing matters objectively(there is no value or meaning).

No, the feeling of numbness is keeping this negativity from having value and meaning. If you can resolve the misery and suffering, then your feelings will slowly start to come back.

As it is healthy to cry- maybe that is not something for you. There are many ways of coping with problems. Try some other activities- and maybe when the time comes it will happen. Besides- its kinda hard and weird to force yourself to cry :P

Well I don't know when was the last time I cried but right now I don't really have reasons to cry and I also think I'm not going to cry anytime soon but maybe some day something will happen, that actually makes me cry!

This makes it hard to take you seriously, my urgent cat business is more important so I suppose you should stop being so emo and let me get it done.

    You are inconsiderate.

    • Are you an emotional person? Do you lead a happy, fulfilling life? Are you satisfied with your life? Have you tried to rise above impulses/instincts/feelings?

      • I have a world class temper, other than that I'm a very "flat" person. That's the nice way to put it I guess.

Fulfillment is a figment of your imagination.

Satisfaction is a figment of your imagination, at least in the true sense of the word.

Impulses/instincts/feelings are all that humans tiny little brains are made up of, bar memory. Even then we simply react to the later with a combination of the former, humans aren't capable of much. If one were to "rise above" them there would would be nothing there.

        • I know. I agree. Although, 'I' is just an illusion.

          • I am not part of a collective consciousness, "I" is absolute.
