I want to be a jellyfish

It seems like an idyllic existence. Floating though the sea, suspended in the ocean depths without a brain or a sense of fate. Fragile yet with a purpose! So much simpler than being a person with too many thoughts

if bruce jenner can become a woman and rachel dolezal can identify as black, you can be a jellyfish.

You have jelly for brains! Being that you don't have brain why are you even on this site?

This post reminds me of the anime Princess Jellyfish. Tsukimi would name you Clara and, with the help of Kuranosuke, would bring you home and take care of you in a little tank (though you might have to spend some time in her bathtub first... And no, that surprisingly doesn't have anything to do with hentai).

    What purpose do jellyfish have?

All animals have a purpose in the ecosystem or else they wouldn't exist, fucktard.

That is untrue. Evolution dictates that there are animals that evolve with useless mutations. Hence, "survival of the fittest." Not every creature has been the most fit with regard to its environment. For every successful mutation within every species there are probably many more failures.

A good example would be the flies born without wings. They exist, yet they are far less suited to their ecosystems. This is why they die quickly.

You're talking about specific members of a species that aren't biologically fit, which also serve a purpose, btw, not entire species.

Jellyfish make up like 2000 species, give or take, and jellyfish blooms are an essential ingredient to marine snow, which forms the base of entire deep sea ecosystems that exist independent of sunlight.

First, I'd like to point out that I never said jellyfish were not essential. I was merely refuting your point that an animals existence is direct evidence of its usefulness within an ecosystem. So , I refuted the words you used. You said animal, not species.

That being said, parasites by definition exploit their ecosystems. Many parasites live to kill their hosts so that the parasite can transmit its progeny, thus continuing it's life cycle. These parasites, are an example of living animals that exist only to be a detriment to the ecosystem they inhabit.

Chill out. I disagree anyway, there are species that don't help the ecosystem, humans for example.

Hopefully, this will not be true for much longer.

Humans are the only example, and that's because they practically exist outside of an ecosystem- akin to viruses.

That's not true. Not even close. Do you know how many animals have gone extinct in the last 50 years? None of their environments collapsed because they were no longer in it.

No, sorry. Just because an ecosystem is elastic and able to naturally recover doesn't mean that it isn't effected by the extinction if a species. It is, and drastically so.

This is the kind of arrogance that leads to biologists implanting invasive species to try and control populations. That never works out well.

You people underestimate the importance of jellyfish. I have seen hordes of them from my imaginary boat, where I live beside my imaginary wife - 42 years my junior - in the ocean in my head.
CountessDouche is right (not to mention gorgeous, intelligent & sweet when it counts)

Look at my face (check my profile pic) & you will see my wisdom (& wrinkles) & know I speak the truth

Jellyfish do not have a brain, and clearly neither do you

Without a brain you would not be able to compose this post; much less comprehend this supposed idyllic existence.

Jellyfish are the preferred food of turtles, so you'd like to be turtle food?
