I want my funeral to be a happy occasion

I've thought about this for a while.. I want my funeral to be more focused on that I am going to a better place than the fact that I am dead. I want it to be this up beat, joyous thing, the music, the sermon, the works, anything that discourages dwelling on me being "dead"

and I want there to be the most amazing informal dinner ever after the funeral/burial with somewhat up beat music, drink to your hearts content, etc. People can cry if they need, I just don't want it to be a depressing day.. there is already enough of that in the world.

does anyone get my drift? Is it normal for me to want my funeral to be like this?

I no exactly what you mean. No one wants to someone to think about them and be sad, the situation being life or death. I'm considering putting the late Great Jimi Hendrix lyric "I'm not gone, I'm Just Dead." on my tombstone.

Yeah that would be nice! Everyone wouldn't be all sad and oh she died cry cry, but like sad but not all dark and depressed. I think that's normal, especially if your a really happy person. :)

    Me too!

Actually, I want somebody to rig my corpse so that it rises up in the middle of the ceremony and scares or startles the living shit out of everybody in the audience :)

    Or, perhaps, I'd like a wake ...

What I don't want is some depressed fucks saying that I went on to a better place, because it's trite and makes them feel better. Death is what it is.

What you want is traditionally referred to as an "irish wake". I too want to go out with a hell of a bang (not a whimper!) Party on dude!

If you want them to party on righteously and celebrate your life proper then you simply have to leave them all some some cold hard cash or at least plan and pre-pay for a party for them. BEQUEATH this and that to your survivors and such and they will honor your wishes to the letter.

I want everyone to see me burst into flames in an open casket funeral. What a way to go out. Fireworks and shit.

Obviously they'd have to hoax this since the devil can't fuck wit me.

Thats exactly what my bf wants. He wants the song Life is beautiful to be played at his funeral. I highly recommend going on youtube and typing in amv. It is about the fifth song down...so beautiful

When my parents die, I want to give a speech in front of the grievers: "Even if my parents no longer walk the Earth, they're angels now, watching over me, and everyone else, and I think that is the best job anyone could ever do." I think funerals should be happy, too. Actually, I remember one happy funeral. My dad's friend passed away after fighting blood cancer for two years. He got up and said that he was so lucky to have a friend like him. I couldn't agree more. I missed him so much. So did my parents.

I would definitely think that as a normal consequence.

Yeah, giving people a chance to celebrate your life on the day of mourning your death seems reasonable. Some people can cry if they need to, yet some may find it offensive if a 3rd cousin is all happy at the funeral yet the close relatives are mourning, so I don't know, it would only work if everybody agreed to celebrate your life that day.
