Demons or lesser imps. You should see a priest and get that checked out.

Wouldn't they be biting OP rather than scratching?

        I'm sure you're right.

It wasn't really a serious suggestion, more a trollish attempt to freak out the OP.

Is it normal that your suggestion didn't freak me out in the least, but instead only made me miss having domestic pet rats of my own. My God, its been too long since I've had loving rodent companionship, it makes me dizzy and feels like my heart is bleeding.

It could be because your skin is dry and cracking. I keep waking up with scratches on my hands.

I bet you're scratching yourself. Not that I ever had them or know much about them, but bed bugs don't leave scratch marks. Maybe it's ghosts???? Anything else weird happen in your home?
I'm still going with you're scratching yourself.

Could be bed bugs: how often do you change your bed linen and air out your mattress and vacuum your bedroom?

Or could be an allergic reaction to something, maybe even whatever detergent you wash the bedding in

Probably unconscious scratching in your sleep because of dehydrated skin. You should still see a doctor, though.

An old worn mattress with springs sticking out.
