I wake up and think something is wrong...

This happens to me about once a week on average. I will go to sleep and then suddenly wake up a short while later and think something is wrong. Like for example last night I woke up and thought there was something spilled on my nightstand. I run around frantic trying to find a towel or something to clean up the mess, and then realize there is nothing spilled, get irritated and go back to sleep.

Or another time I woke up frantic that there was a huge spider under my bed. I wake up, turn on the light, start lifting up the sheets and blankets and realize there is nothing there.

Or another time I thought that I had spilled some cereal in my bed so I start ripping off the blankets and sheets until I realize there is nothing wrong. Its all in my head

The thing is that at the time it seems super real which is why I start to kinda panic.
This is super annoying and it usually happens within the first 2 hours of having gone to sleep. I have a pretty good feeling it is just a strong dream that I somehow connect with actual life but it is irritating to have a mini panic attack so often.

Does this ever happen to anybody else?

I think you've experienced lucid dreams. That's why you think you saw something on your bed(while semi-concious) and them when you were fully awake you saw that there wasn't anything there. It's a gap between being awake and asleep that makes us do things, hear and see things that aren't real. That's very common actually, so don't worry!

It happens to me sometimes. You should take a sleeping medication to knock you right out.

It is good that you only wake up thinking that MINOR things are wrong. I had a dream once that my fiance was cheating and it was so real that I woke up and started yelling at him- he was totally bewildered.

My friends mom has it. It's some kind of anxiety disorder, And I can't recall the clinical name at the moment, but If It's not severe now, I would suggest seeking medical advise.

Sometimes when I'm over, she wakes up screaming; "OH NO, GET THE KIDS, WE GOTTA GO NOW GET UP!!!", and other things.

Sometimes she think's that relatives have just been involved in tragic accidents, etc...

    It's a disorder, seek medical advise A.S.A.P.

This happens to me all the time, though usually I think something bad has happened that hasn't. Once I looked down at my alarm once after waking up, thought it said it was seven thirty and ran around crazily getting ready for school. I was screaming at my brother to get up, because I thought we were late, and I couldn't understand why he wouldn't get up. When I looked at the alarm and saw that it said 11:30 I felt pretty crazy..... Waking up in the middle of a dream can be a bit weird sometimes, but it happens to everybody. I wouldn't really be that concerned about it unless it's really terrifying/bothering you.

  • Probably everyone has had the experience of a dream confused with reality for a while when awakening. But your things seem less obviously connected to a dream, regular, intense and anxious. Too much caffeine maybe? I dunno, but maybe you should chat with your doctor.

Well, it never happened to me to that exteme, but I often wake up with something on my mind, something I believe it's the complete truth (and it's always crazy and strange ideas) and after a minute or two I realize that it's all crap. But it's so lucid when I wake up...So that's probably what you're experiencing. (sorry for my bad english)

There is bridge between when you are sleeping and when you are waking up. There is a short time in which you still feel in the dream but you are able to consciously do activities in reality. I belive it is somewhat normal, as it happened to me on several occasions...
