I've just left the army (welsh guard infantry soldier)

Well i recently left the british army, I was a welsh guard infantry soldier.
I left due to family problems, had 4 years in the services.

I'm now, on the end of pulling my hair out. I don't know what it is, but i miss the fact. I loved being told what to do, i loved taking orders. I enjoy being physically fit, now i've just got all my old habbits back it's rather anoying. If this makes sence, i feel like I'm missing out. Missing out on what? The life being out there, it's just great. I need some idea's on what i can do to get this stuff off my mind i've really tried alot of things.

Our brains _crave_ and _love_ routines and rules, so there's no wonder you're feeling the way you do. Never been in the army myself (being from Sweden I figured what's the point, we'd be butchered in minutes anyway) but I guess setting up routines and following a strict schedule could help. Work-out routines, learning something new for a few hours every day, picking up a new hobby?

Re-enlist, or maby join some sort of cadets group. If you join the cadets it wouldn't be quite the same since you would be telling them what to do, but it might be similar enough that you feel better.

It's common, my cousin left the middle east when he was done and got married but one night over beers he was crying about how much he missed his 'family' and the routine, he wanted to go back. I don't know a lot about the army and ranks or anything but could you speak with your commanding officer and see if there is a base near by that you can work on, or a bade near home that you could voulenteet at. Can you maybe assist training new recruits or even go about on those functions where they go to colleges and stuff to get new recruits? There has to be something they offer to keep you guys busy and together in some way shen you are home, even if you ate not on leave, like in Canada we have leigons where vets of all ages go and meet up. Just wondering if there's something like that for you? Do you have fellow soliders that you can do thing with like hit the gym with, hiking stuff like that? Meh I don't know, but it's normal, that's for sure. Good luck friend

Well i have a lovely girl friend, i wouldn't want to meet for that. Although i wouldn't mind going on there, i bet i'd make some really cool friends there.

You could try finding a boot camp style fitness group. It'd help keep you in shape and feel a little familiar.

I actually play football, for my home town, and i try to keep fit, just not as much as i do now... Which is a shame, great idea's people thank you so much :)
