I've concluded i don't believe in anything much at all. iin?

I don't believe in history beyond what I consider a reasonable point and I don't believe that anyone I have not personally met exists.

As far as I'm concerned, if I haven't seen it, touched it, felt it, been there, or met you, NONE of it exists.

And you can't prove me wrong. So that means I'm right.

is it normal to only believe in what you've personally experienced and not much else?

I'll take this straight from an article.
"Quantum Physics has proved that our physical reality is nothing but a very elaborate mirage. A super-hologram of information. A matrix."
"all physical matter is the result of a frequency. A frequency that if you alter, change or amplify in any way, you change your physical and current reality."
It's not only normal that you feel that which you don't physically experience isn't 'real', it's also accurate. It must be if what's right in front in front of you isn't real.

I don't understand. If I don't exist, then how am I writing this comment?

I think you're being a little close minded.

    Gosh darn Nihilists.

Donnie is in over his head, he thinks he's the walrus.

Though in complete seriousness I actually do really want to own a marmot one day... cute little buggers.

  • You cannot see the 100000+ users on here, so does that mean they do not exist?

You have never seen the bottom, the real bottom of the ocean, does that not exist?

If you have not witnessed murder, rape, mutilation, etc, does that mean they too do not exist?

I see what you mean, and quite honestly being cautious of what people tell you has happened that you yourself have not witnessed is good, but not to the level you are putting it at, I believe.

    • Yes, nothing that I haven't experienced to a satisfactory level does NOT exist. Why would I even care if it existed if it didn't pertain to me at all anyway?

I've never even seen the whole ocean, so why contemplate if it has a super deep bottom if I don't even know that the ocean is what it's rumored to be? I'd be believing something (the ocean has a deep bottom) based on a "fact" (that the ocean is what it's claimed to be) I just accepted but didn't *know* to be true. That would be like conjuring up a mental image of a wrapped future Christmas present of yours and 'knowing' whatever was in the square, wrapped box was definitely circular and made of titanium yet having no actual evidence to base that assertion on, plus the gift doesn't even really exist at this point in time, and who knows if you'll even be alive at Christmas. Completely pointless! Anyway....if I'm not physically AT the ocean, it doesn't exist at that point in time anyway. The ocean appears before me as I approach it, why would I believe it remains there after I leave? It doesn't, as far as I'm concerned.

Just like when I part company with a person, I can make no assumptions about their state of health or life. Have you ever known anyone to die, but not found out for a time after? So, for some time, you believed (or assumed) a dead person was actually alive. You were wrong, you made the mistake of assuming someone existed that no longer did. Apply that to everything else that's supposedly in this world, and there you have it. That's my explanation.

What if you hallucinate. How would you know what's real and what's not then?

Love doesn't exist. That's all I think doesn't exist in this world.

Hmm...I've seen this before. And not from you.

To an extent, but i have a hard time applying that philosophy to everything. I just feel too connected to many things that i cannot prove exist to deny their existence. I think reality certainly exists, but in a much different way than we perceive it.

No offense, everybody is free to believe what they want, but this doesn't make much sense to me. I don't exist even though I'm typing this comment? People on the television don't exist just because you've never seen them in person? Places you've never been to don't actually exist? Sometimes I wish you were right, and all negativity in the world didn't exist. I wish nobody had to live on the streets with no food. I wish nobody got murdered or raped. I wish children and animals weren't abused. But sadly those things do exist, whether or not you've witnessed or experienced it.

Sorry, for some reason I can't reply to you. (maybe because you don't exist)??

What's inside a sealed opaque tube of white artist's paint? Is it black paint? Or maybe it's not paint at all? No one will ever know for sure.

Sounds like you're a solipsist. It's a perfectly valid way of thinking although I would pick up on the assertion that you're right because you can't be proved wrong. This doesn't necessarily follow. What if you're wrong but can't be proved wrong?

It's normal. Some people just have personal trust issues and it's hard for them to understand certain things. There is absolutely nothing wrong with it, though. That's just the way you are.
