I value security more than freedom

I see a lot of people saying how freedom means the world to them, and they pity people from countries with any restriction on freedom. I personally do not care so much about being free, as long as I am properly secure. I mean I would much rather live in a totalitarian state that cares for its people than a poor, dangerous anarchy. Now, I realize that there are totalitarian societies that fail to care for their people like North Korea, and that there are democratic societies that do care like the USA (at least "more" free than other democracies). However, I think people's obsession with freedom is going way too far, for example people defending and praising slander and threat sites simply because they are "free". If I was given the choice between either being free as a tiny bird in the sky with millions of eagles trying to kill you or a tiger in a zoo, I'd choose to be that tiger (as long as I was born in captivity).

Now before you guys pull up that Benjamin Franklin quote, I will NOT sacrifice "essential liberties" for a "little temporary security". However, I would give up a lot of freedoms to purchase permanent security.

You really ought to study the constitution and the hisory and reason for each amendment. The.2nd amendment was #2 (near the top) bcuz it has been history repeating itself that taking away law abiding citizen's guns = genocide. It repeated itself in nazi germany, & jesse ventura said it happened in the phillipenes while he was there.

the constitution & bill of rights have a lot to do with protecting the common people by abuse from the government, bcuz that is what ran rampant in previous societies. In todays society, im much more suspicious of the neo-cons and new world order and thelike & their total abuse of power & ultimate extreme disregard of human life to kill & maim & bankrupt over a political agenda that obviously has no purpo se beyond an occultist agenda of new world order to kill, maim, & rape & damage to the nth degree. I had to scoff at newt gingrich taking pokes at people on welfare when its so overwhelmingly obvious the problems are from the ones pulling the strings at the top.

They pulled 9/11 for an excuse to take away our freedoms & try to do away with the constitution. They ADMITTED the vietnam war was a false flag (lie). So do u trust them to further take away freedoms? U r a fool if u do.

    • Bad rulers and systems take away freedom and do not return any security. In any case, I'd rather pick a free society than a malevolent totalitarian state anyday.

Interesting that you would choose to exercise your freedom to write this post, but feel it isn't worth what you are paying for it.
I, on the other hand, would not give up my ultimate right to choose any life I wish, because to live in a society that chooses my life for me, would not be acceptable.
There were some countries, during the 40's, 50's, 60's and 70's, where you took a test before you began school, which would determine the level of education you would get. As you moved through school, further testing determined your job and therefor your station in life, without your having anything at all to say about it. You were not paid well; the system supplied you with a place to live and the necessities that suited your station in life, but you were SAFE, from everything (little crime, no terrorism, etc.), except the security services.
    Not a good trade, IMO.

Thats right; Give up your freedoms. Don't forget The Party slogans:
    War is Peace
    Freedom is Slavery
    Ignorance is Strength.
A job in the Ministry of Information awaits you.

There is a good reason that ben franklin, a very intelligent man, said that. The way ur talkin, u could easily b talked into communism where u go to jail or worse for bad mouthing the president [dictator]. This is what happened in cuba in 1959. They were talked into such 'security'. in cuba, u can go to jail for having scissors in ur pocket. U need to wake up.

    • Ben Franklin said "Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither". I concur with him. I said I'd give up quite a bit of freedom to purchase permanent security.

If the rules get too ridiculous like "Death penalty for walking more than 3π^-0.32 steps per day" then **** no. I'd defect to the less perfect democracy.

I also value stability, but if you're too safe and secure you'll never know how high the sky is.

I agree. I'd much rather live in a less free socialist society than the "freedom" that results in such inequality.
