I used to dream of a future daughter.

When I was around 13-15, I was very isolated being a home educated only child living in the middle of nowhere. I was deeply unhappy, found it difficult to think of reasons to live, and I spent a lot of time planning and fantasizing about the future.

I had many dreams in which I was around 21 and had a daughter, who usually appeared to be about two years old. Her dad was part of her life and we got along fine but we weren't together. I remember exactly what they both looked like, and I remember my daughter's name. I remember looking after her, feeding her, and in one terrifying dream losing track of her in a children's play area.

Is this normal? Has anyone else had dreams like this?

    I have dreams like this, too, but only because I work with kids, and I have to see everything from grandparents to happy families to single parents. It makes me excited to get married and have little chillinz someday. :)

    Sure everyone has dreams. And they can be pretty random & hard to understand. Understandable how you would dwell on happier times ahead back then. I hope you are not so lonely now.

    I've had dreams about things

    I think you understand already that your dream was very likely a projection of your own situation. It doesn't portray a future so much as your thoughts about it and maybe a reflection of your anxieties.
