I think this is the dumbest tattoo idea!

There's a lot of foolish tattoos, don't get me wrong. I happen to think that this is the dumbest theme of them all:

The area code tattoo!!

It's so stupid!! If you don't think it sounds that stupid, then say this aloud:

"Hey man, what does your tattoo mean?"

"Oh, that's the first 3 digits of my telephone number, bro."

Significantly dumber than ANY other tattoo meaning, don't ya think? No meaning is better than this meaning!

Area codes change sometimes, too!

The funniest tattoo story I ever heard was about a guy who was arrested and wouldnt tell the cops his name. However he had his name tattooed to himself.

The area code tattoo represents where they come from. That means a lot to some ppl. And ppl get things that mean a lot to them tattooed. I wouldn't get it but its not THE most dumb tattoo. Tattoos with no meaning are worse.

No. The dumbest are the tats with boyfriend and girlfriend names. Then when they break up, getting rid of it is expensive as hell so they just cross it out with the next name until it looks illegible.

Actually, if you take a lot of pride in where you're from, it would make sense. There are better tattoos that serve the same purpose, though.

Some guys can pull it off just like with any hairstyle. Usually, I prefer a mans hair to be at lay a little longer, if even long enough for a fohawk. My boyfriend has ponytail hair and I think it looks great on him.

Hey bro,

I have a tattoo that says the first 5 digits of the ISBN number of my favorite book on my left arm. Along my back I have the first two letters of my name with the first two numbers of my date of birth and finally it contains the first two numbers of the number of the beast, these numbers are surrounded by a black devil dragon of doom.

Basically what my point is, you might not like it but there is an entire sub-culture around this, it's called the Tattoo Local Symbolism movement (look it up, I believe Steven Hawking is a member)

Don't judge, just accept man!

      It's just an area code. Short and sweet. I've seen far worse than what is an actual decent indicator of location.
      
      Granted, I'm not really up for debating this one. I'm not a fan of tattoos in general. This just doesn't strike me as the dumbest one I've ever seen... no... I've seen plenty dumber...

        Yeah, I don't see why a three-digit number is a significantly worse symbol than, say, a state flag or a place name. It's just another way of identifying with a place and carrying some reminder of it with you for life. I'm also not a tattoo fan, but if I were, I'd probably be more likely to get a tattoo symbolic of something meaningful like my birthplace than some random nonsense.
        
        Besides, not everywhere is cool enough to have a symbol that instantly identifies a region like we in New Orleans have with the fleur de lis. Some people are stuck with area codes or ZIP codes. :)
