I think there might be two of me...

Generally, i'm a pretty easy going person. But sometimes, I sort of "black out" parts of my day. I'll usually reawaken as if i'd been sleeping, but have no memory of the time that's past. People have even told me that it was like speaking to a different person. They say that I seem "angry" or "un-emotional." Once I was even in a fight and didn't know until later! (I'm not a fighting kind of person.) This is why I think that there's two of me. Can someone give some advice?

It's called Dissociative Identity Disorder. I used to have similar issues a long time ago until I figured out that I was repressing a whole bunch of stuff that I didn't want to accept. I would recommend to spend some time finding out more about yourself, and then learn to love and accept everything you find out. That's what I did, as no psychologist could help.

  • Hmm... how to start... First off, i'd like to say that if you don't believe me, that's fine, but I'm not kidding. My problem, unlike many on this site, is an actual "problem." Thank's for posting your opinions, regardless, but i'm more trying to find someone that can help, or who shares the same or similar problem. I thank you in advance.

Do you have Schizophrenia or psychosis or any other mental disorder? If so, that's a likely cause. And if you have taken any meds recently, that could also be a trigger. I suggest speaking to a psychiatrist... If not... Maybe you are being abducted by aliens???
    Hey, that's always a possibility?

Watch Primal Fear. It's about a guy who has multiple personality disorder. And he commits a murder in his aggressive personality yet has no memory in his calm personality. Your best to see a psychologist or at least a doctor.

Like others have said it's a good idea, even imperative, that you see your doctor and get referred to a psychiatrist. I can't pretend I know anything about whatever condition you have, but if your actions during these episodes are voilent and unemotional, you could end up seriously hurting yourself or someone else. I've been to doctors and psychotherapists for my own problems after years of worrying about it, and it really isn't anywhere near as bad as I thought it would be, so I wish you luck getting better.

True multiple or split personalities are EXTREMELY rare and not even recognized in some psychiatric schools of thought. As others have suggested, it sounds like DID. Talk therapy is usually the best treatment for this. Medications can be helpful if there is some underlying pathology such as depression, anxiety, or schizophrenia (which is probably not the case for you as you sound reasonably socially adjusted). Take this and do with it what you will as I am not providing medical advice based on examination, just general information. Best of luck to you

It could be epilepsy, or it could be multiple personality disorder... you should see a psychiatrist as soon as possible and avoid taking medication. Try to figure out whats causing this and fix it.

OMG that has happened to me too I actually don't like it
It started when I went to a scary place it was like vampire manor or something and when I got inside I blacked out but I was still walking around and stuff and once I got out I came backto reality and could move on my own will when I was inside I was just following people so After I "woke up" I didn't rember anything so about 3 months ago it happened again while my friend was over I just blacked out and woke up the next day and when she left my mom told me that I was crying for some reason last night and she said I was rambling on about random stuff and my freind was worried about me to me I don't think it's normal I think something wrong with me

It could also be what's known in epilepsy circles as an 'absence'. Basically you can get on with day to day stuff but, you'll have these 'blackouts' where you don't actually have any idea of what's going on. They can last from a few seconds to a few hours. Do you get any warning signs, such as a strange taste or smell, before it happens? Another possibility is some sort of brain tumour (don' panic - it's not likely but, a possibility). It could be, as others have mentioned before, also some sort of mental health issue.

I'd recommend seeing your doctor ASAP.

I have to say that this sounds as if you have a pretty serious psychological disorder. A lot of people would call this "split personalities" or "schizophrenia," but those people would be wrong.

If I'm correct, which I admit I may not be because I don't know you, you may have Dissociative Identity Disorder (as one person above pointed out.)

I know a bit about this, because my boyfriend has very severe paranoid schizophrenia, and I did a lot of research about all of this before I knew an actual diagnosis.

For this to apply to you, you must exhibit two or more separate personalities. It sounds as though your friends have pointed this out, and even you yourself have noticed it. You say that you sounded "unemotional" and you got into a fight when that is unlike you to do. This is evidence that you may have DID.

Another symptom of DID is SEVERE memory loss, above and beyond the usual stuff. If you don't remember ANY of what went on in these black-out periods, then that is more evidence pointing towards DID.

A very prominent cause of DID is child abuse or other trauma. If this ever occurred in your life, that is more reason to suspect that you have DID.

I'm sorry if I sound like a robot! I just have spent many an hour reading up on psychiatric stuff, and kind of just keep it stored in the back of my head.

I strongly suggest that you see a psychiatrist. That is generally the only thing that might clear this up; it sounds like you need to discover what your mind is trying to block out.

Well, there is a reason for that! Its maybe that you have an problem which u dont know about, like say u get angry at stuff but u dont realise that,so ur anger has built up and that `something`inside u is showing it.i`ve got more theories but im not going to tell them...
    :)

It's not normal, but that's okay. I dont think you could call a single person in the world normal. Everyone has a problem(s). This is one of yours and you really need to seek help before your hurt yourself or someone else. Maybe try a phycologist. I think insurance pays for it.
