I think that some people had it coming from society/humanity. iin?

Often I see people online saying stuff like "I hate humans/society because they are so mean to me". Most often I would get the impression that these misanthropes are people who have been mistreated by other humans too often, but for some misanthropes I feel they deserved how other humans treated them.

For example, I remember someone online who said how much he hated humans for how badly humanity has treated him. Then I searched up the rest of his posts. He bullied and derided other people, he was racist and tried to incite genocide, and he acted like a complete jerk.

I am in no way claiming that there aren't any people who have had humanity or society treat them badly irrationally. It's no surprise that some people have been treated so badly by others that their view of other humans becomes soured. However, at least for a whole lot of other misanthropes, I think the people who think they have been mistreated are actually just major a**holes who don't even realize they are a**holes.

I agree with this post. A lot of people like to play the 'humanity sucks' card because of how badly they get treated, yet they are part of the problem.

I've seen this sort of thing in school, actually. In 7th grade, there was this boy who would repeatedly tease my friend and I, making fun of me for having acne and making fun of my friend for being abit chubby.

Ironic thing is, he himself was a skinny, pale, freckled, white hair and white eyelash sporting jerk. Nobody really liked him either, so I guess he took his frustration out on those around him.

I never used to tease this person, but one day, I can't remember what it was that he said but it was the last straw. My friend and I just sort of told him off, and he went crying to the teacher. I shit you not, he actually cried.

From then on he was always moping about how shitty his life was and how badly everybody treated him, yet the reason nobody liked him was because he was a jerk and a bully.

Too many people treat others like shit but expect to be treated like a god, and its just not going to happen. I believe in respect, if the person respects you back. I don't care what your age, gender, race or social status is - if you're an asshole to me, you're going to get told off. That's just how it works.

I'm glad someone doesn't just blindly feel sorry for everyone who claims to be treated horribly. This post has made my day.

I think you've made a legitimate observation. Assholes don't ask themselves if the problem is them, they always say the problem is someone else.

it's just a reaction to you're bullshit. I bet bet you couldn't even define misanthrope for me without looking it up. You're an asshole for saying that.

Well, I wasn't expecting this to be an intelligent post. I agree with both this post and your experience. The most misanthropic people I know are the sort who truly believe that the world should adapt to them rather and them asking themselves what they could do to get along better in the world.

To be honest I haven't met one misanthrope that wasn't a bit of a jerk.
