I think sigmund freud is a joke

A cokehead pedo using his so called knowledge about human behavior to sexually exploit young potentially mentally unstable youths.
His theories were based on complex way of dealing with a fundamentally racist ideology.
Psychiatry is NOT a science.It's a belief system with it's internal rules and dogmas in the context of a convoluted system of logic.
During the inquisition they had so called "demons" to fight off.
Today they got so called "mental illnesses" to "cure".
From the "holy body of christ" and exorcism and torture to antidepressants/antipsychotics and counseling and declaring them "incompetent".
What's really really funny is that:The people responsible for all this,are the same kind of people.And most people are obviously joining them in their crusade against the forces of "evil". SO,Freud,Jung,Adler,Kretschmer,Hubbard,You,him,her,whoever you are,It doesn't make any difference.They will still be fighting against this thing inside "me" they see as abnormal for reasons only making sense to them,and to whoever is willing to listen to their rantings.

I agree. His theories consist of sexism and claims that have maintained their false integrity by virtue of it being impossible to disprove them.

I love how everyones mentioned oedipes but not his theory for little girls... How we get jealous of our dads penis because of our inferior genetalia. Yeah, Freud was a moron.

it is interesting sometimes to think of today's societies and why we believe things and act the way we do!

I prefer Adler's theories to Freud's. Try reading some Adler and see if that sits any better with you.

It may be more plausible then we think.
Then again there's always extreme cases, if this was true, way more people would try to fuck there moms, which is quite unreal, so I'ma have say yea, this dude was on one.

There were certain theories where experts nowadays have found out that he had made up to protect and lessen the punishment of a friend. Basically, he used his credibility as an expert to justify someone's actions. I'm not saying he's all wrong, but I do believe that he did abuse his credibility for some things. I also believe that this is happening in modern times as well. Just something to think about ;)

Freud was never always right, but he was never always wrong either. He deserves a certain degree of respect.

The whole "wanna bang your mom" theory isn't respected.Though some people do want to do that,and they use his original terms.

But things liek repression and supression were never considered before him.And the whole "sitting down and talking about your feeligns" thign was his idea. THese are a lot of important aspects of psychology which is why people always jump to him when looking for an example.

Freud for the most part isn't a part of modern psych. Most of the world doesn't believe a good portion of his claims but he has some good ideas which do help explain alot.

As for his addiction, he did it originally for science, documenting it as he went. Someone had to do it. Don't bash him for helping understand how bad the drug is.

He WAS a crackhead. I love Psych and had taken a few classes in it. I always asked why we put so much faith in him for being addicted to drugs.

Well he concentrated on only one aspect of human mind (sexuality and how we are "hardwired" with and in it), because when he saw that his work and research were yielding results, he tought (and taught) that this is all there is to it.

While Sigmund Freud really did discover the truth, this is only one aspect of it. We still don't have the complete picture about whole human mind. There are more pieces of puzzle missing.

You know that saying "whole is greater than the sum of its parts".

Who knows, perhaps some of you here will one day discover another missing part (of many) which will along with Freud's work give clearer picture on humanity.

Or maybe you lack the imtellect to really see the genius of it? I think that is more plausible. Who is the published and respected one again? Oh yeah, not you.
