I think my ex is following my comments

I’ve been using this site for a few years. My ex knows it. Knows my username. I comment often and openly.

Within the past day or so, he made a comment towards me that I can only trace back to here.

WHAT A CUNT. This is my home away from home.

Anyone else make a muck up by telling someone you know about this site? IIN?

    • He doesn’t need an account to see posts and comments.

At least he wouldn't be able to contact you anymore unless he created a new account though, right?

If you feel he is more than just a minor annoyance, I would create a new account under a different username (and don't make the mistake of posting publicly on here or putting in your bio that it's a replacement for your old account, as if he is cyberstalking you, he'll likely find it). If you feel he's a threat and won't quit harassing you, maybe it's time to consider a restraining order.

I was literally thinking waaayyyy to hard about what advice to give. Create a new account never crossed my mind hahaha...durrr

Just make a new account, dude. If you worry about your relationships on the site, it doesn't matter whatsoever. Say one or two non retard things, then blam, you got street cred for not licking light sockets.

Light sockets? They are shockingly good.

I didn't think about it until now, but I think OP would also be wise to lay low for awhile even with a new account, at least in the sense of not posting anything that would give away who they were. The bad news is that sometimes writing style gives it away (something I've also always been paranoid about when posting anonymously anywhere). This really is a tough situation!

You're right about the street cred too, lol!

That's probably good advice too. I think his or her ex might be familiar with their diction and word use. I suppose the OP could disguise themselves, if they were extremely committed to posting here, but having any emotional commitment to this website raises it's own questions, I guess. Hahaha

OP we need to work on a fake shitty British accent so no one can tell it's you. Just start following every comment with a tut, tut, or tea shame people. Skulls (love her) totally tea SHAMED me. It was very agressive. I'm still in tears to this day! Microwave tea is fine!!!

I've never told anyone about my activity on this site, nor my username. I also tend to watch what I post even if it is anonymous, so that 1) if the odd chance arises that someone I know happens to be reading something I wrote, they will be less likely to be able to put 2 and 2 together and guess it's me (I've always been a bit paranoid about that), and 2) it's still the Internet and is public. You never know in what ways you could be exposed. A general rule of thumb I've always been told is to never put anything in text or post online what you wouldn't want next to your name and picture on the front page of the newspaper. Though, let's be real, do any of us on here (or on many sites) really follow that very closely? I think there's a middle ground. Just try to keep anything easily identifiable offline and refrain from sharing your username here with anyone in the future, since unfortunately the people you trust now, you may not always be able to trust.

Sorry you're going through this though. I know what you mean about this being your "home away from home". I love the IIN community, it really is like a second home/family!

My wife one time thought I was dating someone on this site and went through and read some embarrassing posts I made

I took the phone out of her hand deleted the posts and handed it back, which convinced her I was destroying evidence of some girls but it was really to hide my degenerousy

Yep should of just gave the full evidence in that case.

I dont lock my phone. My gf knows its unlocked. Idk if she snoops but theres nothing on here for her to find. Then again she never opened the storage app that contains an lock. So I think I'm good

It wasnt that bad even if she found evidence I was cheating she'd get over it eventually. I never delete posts and when I read them later they seem cringy

That’s what you get for telling him about this site. Though I’d probably tell people too if I had less to hide here

    • He’s a master manipulator. If I tripped and fell, he’d find a way to make me feel worse. It’s super cool.
