I think i need to leave, iin?

So I joined is it normal a month or two ago and I've noticed something rather peculiar.

Whenever I go onto the habits section or onto some of the possibly OCD topics, I find myself imitating whatever it was I read about subconsciously. Luckily the behavior seems to go away after a week or so, but it's rather strange and a little bit annoying.

Has anyone else ever had anything like this happen? IIN?

Yes. In some ways, I'm very suggestible (in other ways, not at all). When I read a book, I sometimes find my writing style here slightly mimicking the author.

Likewise, I sometimes take on the collective personality of the group here. I choose to believe it's an empathic thing rather than me being weak-minded.

I found myself doing it a week or so ago and being insecure about something I wouldn't normally have any insecurity about, and acting a certain way. I did it last night too. I'm not sure IIN is healthy for me.

Over my 7+ years of reading this stuff, this has also happened to me a little bit here and there. But, I usually forget about whatever it was that got on my mind rather quickly. If you're very susceptible to this, try be a bit careful about which posts you choose to click-through and read.

    • I've been trying to keep myself to the posts that won't have the effect but sometimes the initial lines are a bit...vague.

I just hope I now don't start other people to do this in a suggestive sort of way.

        • Occasionally there will be posts with a title like "IIN that..." and so it's impossible to tell if I should avoid it or not.

On the second part, I was trying to say that I hoped no one else started doing what I had been BECAUSE of this post. Sorry, it's unclear. I must have been a bit off when I wrote that.

            • Agreed. I went to TGI Fridays to try and get some from their kitchen but they were all like WTF and I was like I need ASPARAGUS!
