I think i have psychotic depression

it kinda scares me. it's closely related to schizophrenia, except you know what you see/hear/think isn't really there and it drives you nuts.

idk what to do.

Yes I have the same thing. The best pills that I've tried were zoloft and zyprexa together for about a year & 1/2. It was extremely helpful, but i gained 30 pounds in 6 months, so I switched to seroquel and stayed on zoloft, and it was almost as good. now of course i don't have insurance and am off pills and dealing with it on my own with no help from pills or people, and hey I'M ALIVE! barely

Hey if you can recognize the problem and know you have a problem, then do not fret! The crazy ones are the ones who think they are "ok". Good Luck!

I realize this was posted a couple years ago. I still feel like commenting though. For the people saying "if you were psychotic you wouldn't be asking if you are, you wouldn't know" I disagree. I suffer from PMD and I knew, to an extent, that what I was seeing, feeling, hearing, wasn't real. Did that mean that it felt any better? Not at all. It made me feel terrible because I was hearing/seeing/etc things that weren't there and that I couldn't explain to people without fear of them thinking I was crazy. If you believe that you've got a mentall illness of any sort, please don't self-diagnose, see a psychologist or a counselor or someone professional.
I self-diagnosed for a long time. While I was right on my depression (before it turned psychotic) and anxiety, I mistook my PTSD/Psychotic tendencies for being bipolar or schizo.
    Get evaluated.

Oh, I forgot to mention, In case you're concerned about meds.. I cannot afford medication, and so I am not on any. No anti-depressants, anti-anxiety, anti-psychotics. I have to, or am supposed to, limit my caffeine, in order to help with the hallucinating. Unfortunately I love caffeine so I deal with the hallucinations and uneasy feeling they bring.
What I'm saying is that you don't NEED medication. It does, I'm sure, help a lot in recovering or at least coping, but I'm doing alright without. I see my therapist every two weeks, more if i need it, and I try to reassure myself when things are bad. I'm not over my disorders at all, but I am able to cope better.

I think you may have posted this a year ago- but if you still check these comments out I'd just like to say that one of my friends has psychotic depression. He is quite well as long as he is taking meds, although stress can being the symptoms on again.
Hope you have found some good care/a proper diagnosis. Like everyone, a balanced lifestyle and supportive friends/family help alot with this sort of thing.
all the best.Have faith in yourself- you can manage this.

Instead of self diagnosing go to a doctor and get a referral to a psychiatrist. If you do indeed have this you can help yourself with medication and long term psychotherapy. Some of the symptoms hit close to home to me, getting anxious and paranoid!

trying to diagnose yourself with a mental condition via internet information is a very bad idea, you should seek professional help from a reputable doctor and even multiple proffessional opinions. You're only harming yourself by attempting to diagnose yourself with a mental disorder

your probably just paranoid or a hyperchondriach (i think thats how you spell it) incase you dont know what that means it means that you Exxagerate what you think is "symptoms" because you have information on a disorder. i recomend seeking medical advice incase it is an actual disorder, it doesnt sound like depression from the descrription at all.

For someone to say I think i'm pyscotic means they are not pycotic. If you were pycotic you wouldent no it and you would deny it becasue you would think your delusions were real!
