I think about the dead bugs/rat feces that are in processed foods.

At least in the U.S., we have a certain guideline of so many parts per million(?) of bugs/bug sh*t/rodent sh*t/rodent hair/rodent parts we can have in any given edible product. This guideline would pretty much apply to anything aside from totally raw, unprocessed foods...so, to run the gamut--anything from store-bought Apple Sauce to Zucchini Bread can, and will, have so many insect/animal parts in them...Ugh...for instance, I love ketchup, but when I am using it, I picture ground up roach parts/tomato worms (yes, there are tomato worms) hidden in the deliciousness that ketchup is...when I make cookies at home, I think of the hairs of rodents that got ground up with the flour i need to make my cookies. When I drink a hot chocolate, I think of all of the pulverized rat poop I'm probably unintentionally drinking. We all inadvertently eat insects/rodents, their parts, and their excrement, probably on a daily basis...but the problem i guess is that I also think about it on a daily basis. If you knew what I knew, would you think about it too? it makes me slightly nauseous, but i still enjoy my food...

My friend once found a hair in her asprin. It was stuck in one and the end of it was pointing out. She took a pic of it. Sent it to the manufacturer and they sent a letter with an apology with a case of free bandaids, asprin, everything you would find in a first class first aid kit. So yeah, beware!!!

i think about it but it doesn't bother me. today a vegetarian refused my fresh blueberries and ate tater tots instead. because there might be an ant in the blueberries.

I've never heard if that crap being allowed in food. I think Australia's guidelines are different (i really hope so anyway!!!!) because if it's found that there are rodents/ bugs or pests in a food plant they get shut down by health inspectors. I don't think I want to eat anything ever again now!!

i don't think its normal to think about it that much. i feel bad but atleast you said you still enjoy your food. i kind of relate because i cannot drink regular milk because i know there are puss cells in it. i'm not vegetarian or vegan but i will only drink soy milk because puss is disgusting.
