I think about charles manson like this?

I personally think that Charles Manson just pretends to be crazy and random to get attention. I think that in a way, he wanted to get caught and sent to prison to become famous, and it worked, right?

What do you think of this theory?

I think Manson is really mentally insane. 12
No, you got it all wrong. 4
Other.... 4
I think in a way it's kinda true. 12
I think Manson needs to be set free. 5
Yes, that makes sense. 6

I think he's actually crazy. But I also think that he enjoys the attention from it.

Do not get me started on that crazy bastard.
He had EVERYTHING a man could want. He had someone give him a great ranch, lots of loving girls, a talent for songwriting (he wrote songs for Morison of the Doors) and people gave him more money than he could ever spend.
And what did he do with all that? He sent his girls out to murder a whole bunch of people with knives, including a pregnant woman.
How could those be the actions of a sane person?
Though I do not remember him at all, he and I spent time in the same circles and it's quite possible we actually met.

Dude... His childhood was pretty depressing; he recalls that the only happy childhood memory he had was when his mother, who once sold him for a pitcher of beer, hugged him after returning from jail. He had no father and went in and out of jails, just like mommy. His life set him up for what he did and if you listen to his interviews, he actually does say some pretty true stuff when you ignore the rambling. What I'm saying is that yes what he did was pretty rotten, but it's moronic and hypocritical to expect him to be any better than the world he grew up in.

Wow. Does that mean that everybody who had a tough childhood has a right to act any fucking way they want?
All this horseshit about forgiving monsters because mommy and daddy were not the perfect parents is crap. Each and every one of us must take responsibility for our own lives and actions.
Some are just born bad, some are not and some choose to be bad; you can't blame all of it on mommy and daddy. There must be thousands (millions?) of people who had terrible childhoods who didn't become killers, child molesters and rapists, for every one who did, or mankind would have wiped itself out by now.
There is no excuse for the behavior of Manson or others like him, none.
If you believe anything Manson says, you are a fool. Crazy or not, he is a master manipulator and you cannot put stock in anything he says.

well what do you expect? hes a drunken pathological liar. pretty much everything he's ever written on this site is a lie. it pretty obvious, except to half of the loser on this site who aparently believe anything as long's its written by a liberal.

        • You have a point. Jeffrey Dahmer said once in a interview not to put the blame on his parents, but to blame himself and only himself.

At least he didn't try to rat his way out of punishment and blame.

So you are saying you believe he suffers from narcissism? A very interesting idea. Narcissist are great manipulators and will do anything to gain attention. If they do wrong or not they always believe themselves to be this magnificent grand figure. They often blame everyone other than themselves for mistake they make.

            • I never said that I believed he was a narcissist,
although it has been said that Dahmer suffered from Borderline Personality Disorder(sp?) and maybe another mental illness that I can't think of right now.

Unless, you're talking about Manson and not Dahmer?
If so, then I guess it's possible that Manson has narcissism.

I'm not saying that we have to forgive him per se, all I'm saying is that no one should expect him to be any better than his society.

And while not everyone with terrible upbringings kill, they all project their victimization in one form or another(suicide, cutting, drugs( or really anything addictive like tv, internet, sex, etc.), animal abuse, child abuse, military service, hunting). It's just that for some people, the emotional burden on them is so strong that they cannot and will not contain it and choose to kill as a reflection of their hate.

Plus, if there is no excuse for the serial killer, why is there no excuse for the government? Governments cause more damage, more destruction, more slavery, more murder, than all of you serial killers combined. And while I agree that Manson was a master manipulator, the government is kind of manipulation and social indoctrination, but most of you don't seem to have a problem with that. Manson is a reflection of this lying, hateful society. He is just like the american government every one else in that society.

Woops, misspelled some things: "all of you" is meant to be "all of your" and "government is kind" is meant to be "government is king." I know this is a really, really late response but I didn't get the chance to come on the site. I'm awaiting your input :)

exactly. Almost 100% of psychopaths experience some kind of emotional or physical abuse in their past.

And (to the OP) If you knew what prison was like you would know that no one would decide to go there just for fame.

But do almost 100% of the people who experience some kind of emotional or physical abuse in their past turn out to be monsters? That is the real point, isn't it? It doesn't have to happen, so these monsters must take some responsibility for their choices.

well usually theyve experienced extreme abuse. For example, one muderer( cant remember which one used to get lit on fire by his mother, locked into an ice box for days, thrown out of windows. I'm not saying it justifies what these people do, but it explains it. and Im sure not everyone who experiences extreme abuse like that turns out to be a psychopath, but they must have some sources of love to overcome the emotional damage.

From the moment he was arrested, he knew he would be convicted. He knew he would spend the rest of his life confined in a prison. He behaves the way he does any at any chance he appears on something which will be released to the public via media because he believes he is manipulating the masses. He probably gets a high off of it. He isn't insane. He probably believes he's some kind of genius mastermind when in reality he's a sad, pathetic old man rotting away in a cage.

But I do think Manson is actually insane.
I also think they should let him go because all he did was tell a bunch of dumbass girls to kill for him and they did.

Its a shame so many people are so easily suggestable.
