I talk to myself to relief stress

I am depressed lately. I can see other people keep their personal issues to themselves. I mean, keeping everything in their minds without spitting it out.

I try to emulate these people by keeping my personal issues in my thought but the depression got bigger and worse. Then, I can't help but to let it out by talking to myself. Only then, I feel a slight relief.

Sometimes, people nearby caught me doing this which was embarrassing. Is it normal I keep doing this?

Talking to yourself is normal, if it's in a casual/quirky way, but not when you're feeling depressed. Why do you feel the need to emulate others? Just because other people keep their personal issues to themselves doesn't mean you need to too. eg. I'm a solution-oriented person and rarely feel the need to vent just for the sake of talking, but I still do it when necessary.

Yet some people I know -need- to talk about their issues to process or handle them. I actually prefer that for several reasons. It doesn't make one person "better" than the other. If you struggle to talk to people you know, then talk to someone anonymous like on blahtherapy.com. I last used that many months ago and I had more great listening/venting experiences than not. Take it from someone who learned the hard way that attempting to deal with everything by yourself is a recipe for disaster.

np. nah, when I last used it I didn't encounter trolls but then again my total "sessions" there were too few (~12). Out of which ~3 were trying to get their creep on in various ways.

No it's not normal. If it were I would have caught my chemistry teacher doing it behind the cupboard by now...lol. I can relate tho, sometimes it's just unbearable and u can't tell anyone else your secrets. I release myself by writing. There are different forms of relief.

A tea kettle is a poor metaphor for the human mind. The brain works on the basis of reinforcement, which is to say, talking to yourself as a means of emotional control will only lead to you talking to yourself more.

Totally agreed. Happened to me too. Best way is to make some good friends and talk to them. (friends are a better solution as you cant talk about 50% of the problems with parents.)

Fairly normal. I talk to myself as well. If someone catches you doing it and is all like "Oh my god! You're so weird, why do you do that? Hey everyone, this guy talks to himself lol hahahahaha" then tell them to fuck off or you'll pull down your pants and fuck them off yourself.
