I started on harder drugs

My first experiences with drugs were with small amounts of alcohol and dipping snuff, but I never really enjoyed it and just wanted to fit in with what other people were doing. Then, at a rougher patch in my life I started using caffeine as I had developed a bad habit of procrastinating and used it to do work late at night. I soon started using it less practically because I enjoyed the effects and would just stay up late and listen to music with a crazy buzz. I also started to combine it with hydrocodone. Then at the beginning of the summer I was introduced to nitrous oxide and canabis. I didn't just smoke weed like a "normal" person though I had to get my hands on more nitrous. After doing one box over a 35 hour period(I know because I never slept still using caffeine) I was hooked and by the end of the summer I had spent every penny I had on whipits. Over the entire time I still didn't care for weed or alcohol. When I was finaly able to come back to reality somewhat and quit, I started to use more of the traditional "gateway drugs" like tobacco alcohol and canabis that I had never enjoyed before. I still don't like to drink, at least not excessively, but I do smoke weed and tobacco cigarettes and enjoy both thoroughly. Is it normal to start off on harder drugs and has anyone had similar experience?

You try breaking 50 whippits back to back and see if your world view remains intact. By "harder" I simply meant that they are not the traditional gateway drugs and have some pretty nasty mental effects. After quitting whippits I almost went comepletely insane.

hard drugs?? not those- the dentist wouldn't use nitrous if there was something better, or safer. Drugs are ok in moderation, because THAT IS WHY THEY ARE MEDICINES. Abuse of drugs, like "wanting" more, really is a hidden urge, meaning "NEED" more. That means stop, before you spin outta control.

    Wall of text incoming.

TLDR: Stick to moderate use of well-researched drugs if you insist on using 'em.

Judging from the behavior you describe you might have what professionals call an "addictive personality", meaning you probably have a harder time than most people using substances in moderation.

Nitrous isn't that bad for you, unless it's used in excess for extended periods of time like someone mentioned, but I think you should be aware that you might be at risk for developing addiction to other substances which can indeed cause long-term damage.

About the hard drugs/soft drugs debate I'd just like to mention that caffeine, when abused, is actually quite bad for you and it does have some pretty potent stimulant effects. Drink 5-6 cups of strong coffee in rapid succession and see for yourself (on second thought, don't, unless you enjoy tachycardia and anxiety).

I'll get flamed for this one but screw it. I consider weed (when abused of course) to be a so called "hard drug", I've seen friends turn to vacuous zombie-like pseudo-humans with speech impairments, sluggish cognitive processing and memory problems similar to my granddad with stage III Alzheimer. Now I'm not saying that cannabis used responsibly is that bad for you, I myself have used it on and off for many years without any major problems. But when it's abused (with abuse I'm talking about 5+ grams a day) it can be devastating to the psyche.

Oh yeah, you had a question.. :>

Yes, I started out kinda like you. Well actually far worse. Going from caffeine (not kidding!) and codeine to nitrous and ephedrine and then immediately on to coke and amphetamine, then ecstasy (ugh, I feel sick just mentioning it) and LSD (plus some research chemicals - 2ct7, 2cb..the list goes on) and eventually shrooms and benzodiazepines and then in the end cannabis.

So I basically started out with opiates and stimulants and ended up with cannabis and valium. Not the classic drug journey I suppose.
Nowadays I only drink occasionally and smoke a little from time to time.

The moral of the story? Use drugs _in moderation_, stay away from the more potent stimulants (in my opinion, ecstasy is one of the drugs you should avoid entirely, and meth for that matter) and thoroughly research anything you intend to try, if you're hell-bent on doing it anyway.

It might not be "hard drugs" but drugs are drugs. Don't go any furthur into other drugs. Get help now. Don't wait until things get worse.

Hm, well i thing you did it a safer way than most. Most would start with cigs, or alcohol, or go straight to weed then move up the food chain to coke or pills, then pills to meth or heroin.

At the moment all i do is smoke weed. Its alot more laid back, just watch the world move around and think about it.

To answer your question, no, you arn't normal. But that is a good thing. You got the hard shit out of the way, and it sounds like you can just stick to some nice bud from now on. Keep tokin.

Whipits is a hard drug you dumbass ^^^ just doing it once can make your lungs explode, and over a long period of time, you become mentally unstable and permanent brain damage just because you dont have your teeth falling out of your face doesnt mean its not as bad.
I know how you feel on hydrocodones, i'm trying to quit now, but other than that i dont smoke weed or drink, but i do smoke cigs.. but i say just keep your mind on something else for a while until you dont need that craving for a harsh substance. GOOD LUCK :]

tell you what mate I started out on Hash, moved on to mushrooms, then skunk I moved onto cocaine for a bigger buzz then finished up on X pills. Its a bad root drugs just mess with your head and F your life up. One of my mates its 23 now his been smoking weed daily since 16. The effects speak for the, self he has deleveloped a really prominent stutter and is paraniod everwhere he goes, and sometimes experiences shaking in his hands. the are just after a few years of using it. If you want to be like that then go for it... drugs do moe damage than good they aint cool simple as that. if youve tried them then youve have satisified your curiosity so now just leave them alone.

unfortunately its not going to be that easy for me. You're right drugs aren't cool, but I just found out that I quite possibly have bipolar disorder, which drug abuse can be a big part of. For me getting high just doesn't seem like its an option. I have to do it to stay sane.

You really don't have room to call other people dumbasses. I've seen your other posts where you admit to smoking crack fairly regularly so....try again.

Nitrous isn't a hard drug. Yes, it makes you "stupid" for about 30 seconds or a minute, but to experience any real long term health effects you have to use it very habitually over a long period of time.

And I find it hard to be insulted by someone named "sexcrzyfuck" calling me a dumbass, and at the same time claiming that doing a whipit can cause your lungs to explode. Which, by the way, is absurd.
