I've had alot of people whom i do not know ask me if I am from the south. Alot of my friends tell me that i have a southern accent. I was not born in, nor am I from the south. One day, i recorded myself using an application on my phone and played it back. I realized that i actually do sound southern. It is not like anyone in my family has this accent, or any accent for that matter. Mind you, it does not sound like a hick accent, but that of a southern belle. This used to bother me, but does not anymore because it makes me feel like a southern belle...it's stupid, i know lol. But can anyone tell me why i have this accent or what caused it?

    I am the opposite... I was born and grew up in the south but I get people asking me all the time if I am from up norh or even canada! I do have a Canadian father, but he doesn't sound like it.. It's weird. I also don't like sweet tea or fried foods or anything stereotypical of a southerner. It's strange, but I kind of like it. It's who you are and it makes you different. Being the same as everyone else or being what people expect is overrated.

    I'm from the south and a southern accent is the hottest accent a girl can have, as long as it's not hick

    If it really bothers you, you can go to a speech therapist for accent remediation.
    I am an ST, talk like a hick and don't care. There are other accents in the US that sound equally bad. Think Bronx.

    im from up north and people say you sound like your from Alabama but im not from their im from Indiana fellers. maybe you wish you was from the south

    Your mouth.What else?The shape of your mouth influences the way you speak.And the other way around.Why do you think people missing teeth usually "talk funny"?People with dry mouths talk differently also because their mouths are dry.The saliva:gunkier.Tongue doesn't slip.Etcetera.Or:
    Your vocal cords and throat and lungs...
    it's mostly an anatomical thing.Bigger tongues.Smaller tongues.Longer tongues.
    Shorter tongues. wider palate.. your nose..
    Maybe they adopted you.
    Or you just aren't that bright.

    I am from the south, and when I speak to someone with a southern accent, I automatically assume they are less intelligent. I have fought my southern accent for 25 years! You can do it, like Nike!! :)

    What!? You want to sound like a southern belle but don't live in the south? Where do u live bc being southern is more than just an accent, it is a whole mindset and standard of behavior
