I sometime have to pretend to laugh and be happy

Sometimes when im around medium sized groups of people that I know I have to be specific in my actions and tell myself to act in a way appropriate to the group for example if someone tells a joke or says something funny I have to tell myself OK you should laugh now or smile even tho I didnt pay attention to what's said or don't find it funny which is more often than usual even if it's a professional comedian and they're definitely funny I have to fake it and nothing seems to come naturally also when playing a sport like volley ball people laugh and smile and I'm serious so I have to tell myself to smile and act happy even if I may be having fun I still have to fake the smiles does anyone have similar experiences?

I believe it's called the social graces or manners, to some extent. Acting as expected in a social situation is quite common. Nobody wants to be around another person who is a total downer, so we all put on masks at times to blend in. Perfectly normal.

It seems that everyone around me is genuinely happy but to come to think of it some may probably just be pretending like me I guess I can't know for sure but at least I know I'm not alone thanks for your comment =)

It's normal if you're on the Autism Spectrum.

Thanks everyone for your input I feel better about this now I guess it just feels unnatural and awkward sometimes to have to fake my expressions
