I seriously hate trigger warnings

Ok so basically whenever I'm on social media, one thing that I seriously hate is trigger warnings. They seriously assume I'm some dumb wimp who will go into a coma at the sight of blood. Like no sane person is that feeble they will disintegrate if they hear anything about sexual assault, murder, or tax evasion. Like these trigger warnings are basically always given out by these "soft aesthetic" girls who are autistic and an LGBT. I know I sound like a grumpy old man criticizing every new thing, but as a sane rational person who isn't chronically online, I feel my hate is justified. Like whenever I see one I just leave a dislike and/or a negative comment. My hate for trigger warnings also extends to other things like epilepsy or spoiler warnings, but those are for another day.

Sounds like they should start issuing a trigger warning for the trigger warnings

Lol I wrote a post called “I appreciate content/trigger warnings” like a year ago

I’ll check that site called Does-The-Dog-Die that tells you whether a show or movie has sensitive material and it gets specific
Sometimes I just wanna watch something chill without something really disturbing or dramatic being shown

Also as someone with kids, yeah I definitely need to know what’s going to be shown. I screen everything, so it makes it easier

    • I checked that website and some of the more ridiculous triggers were:
Bugs and spiders, like I get people are scared of arthropods, but not to the point they completely lose it
Farting, sure its a bit rude but its just a normal bodily function
Falling down the stairs: Are people seriously triggered by slapstick humour?
Needles: I get why people are scared of them they hurt but a cartoon depiction of a syringe should not be enough to knock someone out
Childbirth: It's just part of life you'll be in or be a witness to
The word dumb: I cant see how dumb is abelist its definitely one of the weaker synonyms of stupid
Sad ending: Don't spoil if the ending is happy or sad

you sound like a whining piece of shit with less empathy than a drunk crocodile. Angry cheeto-fingered youtube vloggers from 2013 who haven't got their dick wet since being baptized at birth want their rant-fodder back.

I want to say this is Normal, but as with most Normal posts on this site, the OP always gets really extreme about it.

"Trigger warning" is just a stupid name for "sensitive content". I mainly hate the terminology, but I also don't like seeing it in places where there's only a specific word about to be used (I watch Youtube a lot), and nothing particularly graphic is actually being shown or described. Likewise, when something graphic IS about to be shown, please don't describe it as a "trigger". I didn't get "triggered" by your scene, implying that it made me remember something, I got "traumatized" by your scene, meaning your content is the sole source of my discomfort.

Voted Normal anyway since I don't think it's all that weird to dislike seeing trigger warnings, but if you're extending it to flashing lights and spoilers, and you instantly downvote as soon as you see it no matter what it's about, you're just simply an asshole.

Seriously, I see where you're coming from, but there's limits to everything. I'm desensitized to most kinds of graphic scenes and I don't have epilepsy, but that doesn't mean I want to see a video of a guy getting killed in real life in a room filled with flashbulbs. Sometimes, in fact MOST of the time, it's a matter of not wanting to see that thing, not being afraid of seeing that thing.

Some people cannot handle seeing things like blood and gore, I certainly cant, and some people has been through serious abuse and suffer from ptsd hence cannot see images that could trigger those memories. It's basic human decency and empathy to issue a warning before posting sensitive content, but for a person lacking empathy it wouldn't make sense of course. It's very easy to ignore the warning and just view the content.

Some of them are super cheesy. But I was watching this one video on bench pressing techniques and out of nowhere it shows this power lifter benching like 600lbs and dropping it on his chest. Then I said FUCK and had to look in the comments they said he DIED. I dont mind warnings on sad shit but the cheesy stuff gets old.

I'm autistic but I hate the LGBTs.
The only trigger warnings I would appreciate is to do with the P word. Because I get REALLY volatile and angry whenever I hear about that so I'd rather not see it!!!!

I can see the warnings for epilepsy triggers, but who doesn't know that things like scenes of war are graphic and upsetting. Or if you have to note that there will be nudity or "adult" language, perhaps just don't put it in there in the first place. It won't ruin the storyline one bit.

  • But we must make those people see those things
