I see millions of tiny dots everywhere i look?

So a couple of days ago I noticed that everywhere I look I see millions of dots all across my vision field. I also see them with my eyes shut which really freaks me out. They are generally easier to notice at night and in dark places. I also see them rather well on plain backgrounds such as a white wall. Before I noticed it inside I used to see it when I looked up at the sky. So what I am wondering is if maybe I have always had this and only just noticed it or maybe it is some kind of eye problem.

      Yeah it's not floaters. Floaters aren't millions of tiny dots.

      I don't think its floaters. Floaters look like bubbles and squiggles. The description sounds more like visual snow.

        It's not floaters or visual snow. Visual snow is usually black and white static and comes with other symptoms.

    Does it get better when you toke up? Increased pressure in the eyes causes visual irregularities, and weed is known to reduce intra-ocular pressure.

    It could be a detached or torn retina. Usually when this happens you will suddenly start getting a lot of floaters out of the blue.

      Most people who have this (like me) have had it since they were very young so it probably isn't a detached retina

    This is a serious problem! It screams impending retinal detachment! See a doctor immediately to prevent irreversible vision loss! If a doctor is not available go to the emergency room!

    That's exactly how I see. I had that "OH GOD WHAT ARE THESE DOTS" enlightenment when I was 10 or 11. After that I'd grown used to them and can only see them when I start thinking about it. 2028497284234% normal. :)

    Does it look like static? i know exactly what you are talking about. i believe it to be an energy flowing through everything. i dont see how there are so many people that dont know what youre talking about..

    This doesn't sound normal. I've seen little dots like this but only when i rub my eyes really hard or when I go from really bright lighting to total darkness. But its only for a few minutes.

    Do you mean visual snow? Visual snow looks like tv static and gets more noticeable the darker it gets. I see it all the time and I haven't heard of it being anything serious. Its neurological and could be caused from a number of things but isn't a big deal. I've had it as long as I can remember.

      Visual snow usually has other things with it, like floaters and such. This is colored dots not black and white.
