I remember with absolute clarity every bad thing that was ever said to me

My memory is average, but when it comes to humiliating, nasty insults I remember them forever. I can recall hundreds of experiences instantly and could spend hours writing a huge list if I wanted to, without stopping. Is this normal?

  • Yep, especially if you tend to replay those hurtful or shameful events and words in your mind over and over again.

I have a tendency to do that, but it's best to let it go.

And that being said... "CRAWLING IN MY SKIIINNN! THESE WOUNDS THEY WILL NOT HEAAALL!"

there’s a saying that’s something like this “bruises heal, but words last forever”

Yeah. That's the story of my life. No cure yet.
Somethings just stick out more than others.
It's like how people always complain about their gf/bf but never the same amount of praise.
Or complain about their work but don't even mention the good parts.
We're also more accepting of people saying bad things than good things.
Because if you go on and on about the good things then you're just bragging and a piece of shit.
People aren't jealous of the bad things in others lives, but always jealous of the good.

So I'd say maybe your memory is like that because you've been conditioned by society and your environment to be that way.

Write that huge long list, then you don't have to burden yourself with remembering and dwelling on that stuff.
